“Probably try elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

MaxOne is new, modern, clean, but it is in the middle of nowhere and due to traffic on the narrow road to get there took us more than an hour from the airport. The rudeness and attitude of the female staff member on reception quickly turned us off our intial impressions and continued to be unhelpful for the duration of our stay.

The bed and bathroom were good, also room has a big wall mounted LCD, but not having any fridge in our room meant we were unable to enjoy the complimentary beers (not water) they provided.

Food on the included buffet breakfast was practically inedible, however we managed to sustain ourselves on the fruit, toast, and coffee. Price was reasonable and is the only upside we can think of.

We planned on staying one night and ended up staying 3 nights. The rooms are immaculate, stylish, and most have a pretty good view of the bay.
-Roof top pool is awesome clean, great view, stylish furniture and not overly chlorinated.
-Breakfast was decent, a little expensive for the American breakfast for what you get but the indonesian breakfast is a great portion and tasty.
-Helped us rent a scooter at a reasonable price and they have a computer in the lobby thats pretty fast.

Room Tip: higher floors are quieter and have better views(but a little bit smaller)

The hotel itself is pretty contemporary and very clean, the rooms come with two bottles of water and two beers free of charge daily. The tv has a good 30/40 channels of which about half are in English and there are a few sports channels which came in real handy. Another good plus is the complementary shuttle bus to the Discovery Mall, the beach and the GWK Cultural Park.

The area however isn't the best, it's far outside Kuta and there isn't too much going on in Jimbaran bar the beach and the Cultural Park but obviously they have included the complementary to try and offset this..There are restaurants around the area on both sides including an Irish bar and a Thai restaurant called Kat's kitchen which did some good food but it is relatively expensive in comparison to it's nearby counterparts. The rooftop pool was a big selling point for us as the view is amazing and a lot of fun but the drinks are expensive.

The only taints on a fairly enjoyable experience at the hotel for us was when we stupidly, in Kuta town, filled in a survey which was clearly a scam. We realised half way through and gave fake surnames and the wrong room number however the staff at reception decided to give these people our real names and room number and they began to harass us claiming we had won a free holiday and they would come and pick us up. Pretty unethical on the part of reception, not sure if they were in on the scam or what but it made us feel a little uneasy and I don't get shook easily.. The place is real poverty stricken and you wouldn't of ruled out a jackmove..

The second taint was upon leaving, we checked out at 10am with our flight 4 hours later, we were going straight to the airport with two of the male staff happy to take us in the shuttle bus only to be told by a female member of staff that they couldn't unless we paid 150,000 IDR, around twice what we eventually paid in a taxi. This may sound like knit picking to many but when you take into consideration the fact that the shuttle bus leaves for the discovery mall at 10am (5 minutes away from the airport) and drove literally beside us the entire journey it was a bit of an inconvenience for us but we were still overall impressed with the hotel. On the whole though, Bali is worth one visit, maybe 4 or 5 days I don't see the allure to go back time and time again. We are currently in Kuala Lumpur and it is 100x better.

Dear Surge08

Thank you and we very glad to know that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel.
and we would like to apologize for the inconvenience that happened during your stay.
It is the hotel regulation that the shuttle car can not drop the guest to the airport instead of the original stop point and also, It is strictly staff can not give any information about in-house guest to outsider unless the guest permitted.

Dear Maureen M

Thank you for stayed with us and your valuable comment.
It is the hotel original concept that we did not provide the refrigerator and mini bar in the room.
We just re-brand our restaurant this month with a new concept where you can enjoyed more variety of menu and taste.

very recommended, cheap budget hotel. Room was clean & comfortable, shower was good, they provide 2 mineral water bottles & 2 beers daily. The swimming pool was on the rooftop, and got a very amazing view. Staff were friendly.. Breakfast was okay, aka-carte menu..

Downside
During our stay, there was this big group, very noisy on the same floor with us. the hotel's wall were so thin, so we couldn't sleep because they were laughing, talking, and screaming. They should put this group separate with other hotel guest..

Stayed for a night and a half for our last day in Bali, we picked this hotel because it is cheap and comfortable.

At first we got into the room, it smelled bad, so we called the front office to move us to another room.

We got a nice, compact, cold and nice room to stay. Its location is right in the middle of the southern area, it will take you 10-25 minutes to any nearby beaches.

Didnt try the rooftop pool, but it looked very nice to indulge in the water.

The breakfast was okay and the service was good.

If youre looking for an affordable room, go for this one.

For the rate i paid, it more than worth it. Amazing decor and ambience. Plenty of restaurant near by. Great shuttle service. Most of all, best swimming pool and view for a budget hotel. Staffs are friendly. Conviniently located near surf area.
