“Amazing location and view, great overall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This is a great resort in an amazing location with great views from the main pool and restaurants, highlights:
Pros
- tastefully done rooms, good sized, well equipped and nice bathrooms (we stayed in a standard ocean view room, although the ocean view wasn't really worth paying more for vs garden view as the room was far from the sea)
- great selection of pools, our 13 and 11 year olds loved the pool with the slides and the main pool
- truly great eating options, we ate at i) sami sami the italian place, food okay, location fantastic with great sunset views, ii) kisik seafood, excellent food, highly recommend, great location on the waterfront with fantastic sunset views and great staff, iii) rockbar, we didn't eat here as were too busy swimming in the pool around sunset to be bothered lining up to get in, but we had a drink here and it is a truly amazing location, iv) buffet breakfast, was okay, should probably be better given the quality of the rest of the hotel
- great facilities, we played tennis one morning, golf (putting) one morning, good pools, good gym, etc
- very friendly and helpful staff

Cons:
- no free wifi in bedrooms (couldn't understand this policy for such a classy hotel, felt like penny pinching, see below)
- felt like some small extra changes were applied for various things unnecessarily, see above
- some staff lacked training, especially for 5 star, as didn't know much about basic hotel items or took a long time to answer queries/address small issues

Overall this is a great hotel and would highly recommend.

I booked an ocean view club room 6 months in advance and had a picture on my fridge as a goal to look forward to. When I arrived they led me to a garden view with ocean glimpses. I insisted on getting the room I had paid for and when I was given the room with the better view none of the in room brochures were in English - obviously reserved for select nationality. The club lounge was really disappointing: no sparking wine even though the local jepun sparkling rose is inexpensive and very nice. All of the canapés were chicken mixed with shrimp but presented in different ways eg crumbed and deep fried, steamed into a meat ball, wrapped in pastry and boiled into a wonton, or rolled into balls and served as dumplings in a soup. Three choices of cheese and a few bread rolls. The club lounge is enclosed in glass and thankfully has an outdoor area for smokers so you can enjoy the air conditioning and not breath in others smoke however due to the small size and enclosed glass you are surrounded by a nationality that does not adhere to the same eating etiquette so the most disgusting noises force you outside into the humidity and smoke. This was supposed to be saving the best for last - I had four nights in hyatt nusa dua which was outstanding, then seven nights at the royal pita maha which is consistently fabulous. I rarely write negative reviews but you need to draw the line somewhere

Room Tip: Put your foot down and insist on what you paid for

My wife and I have just returned from a 30th wedding anniversary celebration. We stayed three nights at the Ayana Resort in a Club Suite. The resort and our palatial abode provided what can only be described as an impeccable experience! The service was extraordinary! At every turn, a smiling local was present to greet, to carry, to provide a towel or offer chilled water. Nothing was too much trouble. The quality of service was on a par with the excellence of every meal that was offered to us. The Club room experience was exceptionally good value, giving us access to superb food all day long and generous amounts of alcohol. Our bath tub filled with Frangipani petals was a real surprise, as were the nightly treats left as a turn down service. The resort's private beach (Kubu Beach) was a joy. I forgot to bring a hat, but in typical Ayana style where nothing is a problem, the lifeguard Ake suggested that I borrow his cap. Now that is what I call personal care! Ake also gave us a brilliant tip: to hang out at the River Pool. Away from the popular Ocean Beach Pool and Rock Bar, it was a heavenly sanctuary, where once again Ayana staff were waiting to fulfil every need with a smile. We were treated like royalty every minute of our stay, making thirty years of marriage so totally worthwhile!

I checked in on April 9, 2015 for one night only but I had witness the amazing views from my favorite part at this hotel.

First, I'm planning to have a dinner at Kisik Bar and Grill but sadly I've been informed there is full-booked for dinner, so I switch plan to spent dinner at Sami-Sami Restaurant and Bar, which is quite nice place to eat and enjoy sunset there.

And in the morning, I am satisfied with buffet breakfast which served variety of great food and also healthy fruits.

While you're stay at Ayana, don't forget to swim at the ocean beach pool and you will relaxed by the time you got there, you will see the amazing ocean, it will make you want to stay longer. But sadly the experience is only for one day but I am willing to stay at this hotel once I have chance to visit Bali.

Having read reviews and articles about this hotel, I already had a high expectation for ayana. My understanding was: Ayana will give you similar experience as luxury hotel, but at a lower price. For eg, you can have access to all AYANA's facilities and priority access to the legendary Rock Bar. Those alone give me good reasons to stay at ayana

If you need to unwind, be romantic, get totally spoilt while you relax, Ayana Ocean front villas are the way to go! You will pay more but I defy you to find a resort that makes you feel like this!
Our 4th visit, each time in a Villa- preferably an Ocean front one, as this offers perfect privacy when outside. Lie on an enormous day bed watching the sun set or swim in your private pool. PS Dont tell anyone but the 1 bedroom Ocean Front Villas starting with a 1 are the best!
No request will be too hard for staff -your personal butler will make sure you get all the extras you need. Take a room service breakfast -they will set it out on your day bed outside or Night time dinner -surrounded by candles.
If one or both of you need to unwind, go here - you won't need long! We don't need to leave the Resort -lots of top restuarants -love the Dava . Order a massage in your room or go try out the Spa, you may never want to leave -it may also become your 2nd home
