Show lessDear Charles M,
Thank you for your comment about Kupu Kupu. I will talk to the Chef for the possibilities to add savoury options to the afternoon tea.
Regarding the gym equipment, it is actually new but we will probably add new machines in the future indeed.
Looking forward to welcome you again in Jimbaran,
Best regards,
Thibaud
We stayed in this hotel only for one night before we flew home the next day. I found this hotel a little bit strange if I'm honest. It should have been lovely but there was something missing and I think the main issue overall was the service and management of the establishment.
No one really seemed to know what they were doing, the level of English of a number of staff was poor so it was really difficult to communicate what you needed. It was very rough around the edges - ladders left about, things just strewn places and not put away. One example of this is the pool area (Which is lovely generally), near the end of the pool to the right there was left over bits just piled up instead of cleared away. It didn't really feel like a four star hotel - it looked like one but lacked the finesse you would expect for four stars.
The room was huge with a bath in the centre of the room. However, it was very 'bling' and busy. For all of it's size it still felt a bit claustrophobic and dark though. However the good points - good quality toiletries (L'Occitaine), nice bath in the middle of the room, good shower (although it didn't work properly), good choice of TV channels if this is important to you, huge and comfortable bed with real feather pillows, complimentary water and interesting fruit basket.
Breakfast was included in our rate and was fine - The hotel is part of a shopping centre which I was not expecting so you need to walk through the complex to get to the breakfast room. This results in the experience feeling a bit impersonal and just like you are eating in a cafe and not in your hotel. We also ate lunch at the hotel too, again fine. However, the service was appalling - staff generally disinterested and dismissive, setting tables up all whilst we were waiting to ask for the bill. Nobody came around asking if you needed anything. Particularly rude was when my partner was counting out his money, once we'd finally got the bill, the waitress came over and tried to take it. My partner explained he was still counting it out and she then started trying to take money from his hand to do it for him! In no way am I implying there was anything dishonest going on here, it was just very strange and again highlights a lack of training/understanding from staff of what is appropriate. For an Island with the best service I have ever experienced anywhere in the world, the lack of service here was particularly shocking. Staff seemed to dislike working here as well - everyone seemed sad and no one was really smiling. This is something I felt throughout the hotel from staff generally.
Overall, I'd say this is a 3 star hotel with 2 star service. It is fine for a stopover, hence why I have given it 3 stars - If I'd have been staying longer than the one night I think I would have been much more disappointed.
Dear Ms. Allylouiser,
Thank you for your stay with us and for your constructive comment. I read attentively your review and I am sorry that we were not able to give you a better impression of our hotel.
I am happy that you enjoyed our facilities: "huge room", "good quality toiletries", "nice bath", "good shower", "good choice of TV channels", "comfortable bed", "complimentary water and fruit basket".
I took note of your remarks regarding the lack of finesse of some of our public areas. It reminds us to keep our focus in making sure that the hotel is clean and tidy at all time.
I am also sorry that you didn't enjoy your breakfast and lunch experience in Chocolate Café. We are continuously training our staff to deliver the best service and I regret you didn't feel we were up to your standard. We have generally very positive reviews about Chocolate Café on Internet and to be honest, I certainly do not agree with you that our staff "dislike(s) working" with us.
I invite you to visit us again and share a word or two with our employees. I am very confident they would be surprised and maybe hurt by your words.
I'm really hoping that you could give us a second chance because I am convinced that you didn't experience our best standards during your one night stay with us.
Best regards,
Thibaud
very individual, very friendly staff, good breakfast - worth having breakfast at least once at the Beach Club. Good location and perferct to start or finish Holiday on Bali.
Rooms are perfectly decorated, very spacious - only a little bit less light. This gives a nice atmosphere, however sometimes it would help to have a bit of brighter lights
Also liked the swimming pool although we prefered the very nice, sandy beach and enjoyed the waves. Shuttle Service to beach was always available!
Only lowlight: SPA is very expensive, even compared with European standards.
Overall we can highly recommend that place!

Regarding the prices of our spa, I recommend to our guests to book their room directly on our website. We have specials offers regularly, with sometimes free spas with minimum stays. Those offers are only available on our own Kupu Kupu Resort corporate website. If you need more information you can email me directly as well: thibaud@kupubarong.com.
I hope that we will have the chance to welcome you again in Jimbaran,
Warmest regards,
Thibaud
Love this place!!! Ok so I know the location isn't beachfront and it's a 5 min walk away but I don't know how anyone can moan about it, the hotel offers a FREE buggy service to the beach I have walked further in a hotel complex from one end to another. It's not impossible to walk neither we did it most mornings and evenings without any issues. The staff well what can I say after 12 nights staying here you felt like part of the family nothing was too much trouble for anyone, everyone made you feel so welcome. Our duplex room was very well decorated and extremely clean, no faults at all. The pool area was so quite perfect for relaxation with a number of beds & lounges so no fighting at 6am to put your towel out here. We didn't eat an evening meal at the hotel but had breakfast here daily & visited the chocolate cafe for a sweet treat or two which I must say has some of the best cheesecake I have ever tasted. Breakfast had a wide selection the husband feasted on steak and eggs daily!! Plenty of choice to set you up for the day. My only recommendation would be for the management to take a closer look at the beach club it's slightly in need of some Tender Loving Care, the lounger cushions need replacing & generally a tidy up. This place could make a killing if a bit of cash was spent here. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a boutique, small & friendly place to stay.
Dear Princesspage12,
Thank you very much for your great comment about Kupu Kupu!
I took note of your advice for the beach club and I agree with it. We have renewed part of the beach equipment recently to improve it and give it a higher standing.
We hope to see you again soon in Jimbaran,
Best regards,
Thibaud
The location is excellent, we loved the place as we went there to relax for 2-3 days. We really liked the Spa and the food served at the restaurants (including breakfast). The beach is a short distance from the hotel, but you can easily reach it on foot or by using their buggy service.

Kupu Kupu is a short ride from the beach. There is a complimentary buggy that will shuttle you back and forth). We stayed in a family room which was at the end of a long corridor not facing onto the central swimming pool. The suite was enormous and had beautiful furnishings and very comfortable beds.
Staff were very helpful and made sure we were well looked after.
The Jimbaran Beach Club - which is situated on the beach - is lovely and we enjoyed a delicions breakfast there before chekcing out.
I would recommend this hptel to anyone who is looking for a bit of luxury and is not bothered about not being located directly on a beach.
