“Seclusion's shortcomings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

I love nature. I seek it out as much as the next adventure traveler. Which is why we decided to stay at Anahata. The hotel has stunning scenery, beautiful facilities, excellent service, and our room was very comfortable and had a personal pool (which was, however, too cold to actually use). What's not to love? Two things mostly: inconvenience and uninvited guests.

For those who have stayed in Ubud, you're most likely familiar with the long driving distances to get literally anywhere. This is a drag, and staying in Anahata tacked on an extra ~30 mins to every trip. While the hotel's surroundings are spectacular, sunsets sprawling over the jungle, the sound of birds and insects serenading the evening's lull, and monkey packs swinging from nearby trees, we didn't really get to fully enjoy the scenery much since our day trips ended too late and dinner required another 20-30 minute trip into town. The hotel's resultant was a bit lacking and there's virtually no dining options in the immediate area, thus the unwanted extra time spent in a van.

On our last night, we also came home to about 200+ flying insects in our apartment. The doors to the outside did not fully seal and these little guys came right under. Luckily, they were extremely easy to kill and after a call to room service we fully purged them from the room. We're not fussy about insects and coincided peacefully all trip with a steady array of ants, spiders, lizards, etc. But the sight of hundreds of inch-long flying ant thingies crawling all over our bed and belongings will be memorable for the wrong reasons.

It's also worth to note the internet is only available in the lobby and is unusable. For those like us who research on the spot, be sure to prepare ahead of time.

In conclusion, if you travel like us and prefer to take day trips and excursions, you're better off with a similar hotel closer to town like Beiji Ubud. If you plan to spend the day in the hotel and take advantage of its facilities and scenery, this is a great hotel you'll definitely enjoy. Just remember to lock those doors and bring a can of bug spray.

It was my first time staying in this kind of resorts. It is a good place and the service is good, except the place is a little bit spooky. Other than that it was definitely a great place to stay at. I really love the room and the employee is also very friendly. I would love to try the spa next time. The location of the resort is not particularly convenient because it was far from everywhere else.

Spending a whole week in this resort was just stunning and worth trying new experience. Rooms with private pools in c levels, views, river, resort pool, jacuzzi location, private free yoga lessons and staff attitude are best things. Food options, private pool without heater, no driver at night, location bit far from city center still ok, spa quality just ok.
Overall I will definitely choose same resort if I plan bali trip again.
Special thanks to all staff just great and work passionate!

Room Tip: C levels are great. I stayed in C12

Having just spent 2 nights with friends in this majestic and serene setting I feel that all my negative energies have gone and in it's place replaced with a positive energy, this has to be the place to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big City syndrome like Sydney, we were treated like royalty by friendly and helpful staff, and if you like the drive Ubud markets are for those that are looking for a bargain, not for me, the temples are great, but the highlight of my entire trip was, where I was staying, and going down to the prestine river which clensed my soul in clear cool rapid water, thanks Anahata you da best

Great Villa with private plunge pool and private garden. Beautiful view from our balcony. The staff were very friendly and service was good. You must try Yoga & Meditation courses in Anahata. Love this place.
