I recently spent 3 nights at Alila Ubud and could not have been happier with my decision to book here. I had an incredible experience and cannot wait to return at some point in the future!
Rooms - I spent two nights in a standard 2nd floor room with two twin beds (traveling with a friend). The room was clean and spacious with a large, inviting balcony that had views of the lush surrounding jungle. It was incredible to wake up to the sounds of nature and even to some monkeys! On the third night I was upgraded (randomly) for free to a private villa. It was unbelievably gorgeous!! I only wish I didnt have to leave so soon after the move! Note that the villa had a TV but the room did not. Also, I found the room to be a bit dark at night - could use a bit more lighting! But that did not take away from the experience at all.
Dining - OMG that breakfast! I could eat that breakfast all day honestly. The menu changed daily and provided an array of fresh, locally sourced dishes as well as fresh baked breads and pressed juices. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Given that the hotel is deep inside the rice paddies it is difficult to eat outside of the hotel without making a trip out of it so you have to hope that the food is good and let me tell you - it is! I also had dinner and room service here and was blown away by both of these meals as well. The only thing to note is that you may find cheaper options outside the hotel, but I doubt they would match the quality of the offerings here.
Service - The service here is top notch. The staff is very friendly and really remembers you and asks how your activities for the day went and how you got on etc. They responded promptly to any requests that I had.
Spa - I had a pleasant experience at the spa where I recieved a full body massage and pedicure. I felt that it was reasonably priced for the quality of service.
Activities - I signed up for a bike ride through the rice paddies and villages. Since I was the only one traveling that day I paid a small fee for the guide to come just for me, but it was literally one of the best excusions I have ever been on. The guide was from the local village and knew the area very well. We biked through scenic areas at a leisurly pace and throughout he provided helpful points on the area and culture and answered all of my questions. Amazing!
Grounds - The hotel grounds are incredibly beautiful. The hotel is set far back amongst rice paddies within the jungle. Take a look at some of the photos - they dont do this hotel justice!
Pool - Again no photo can do justice to the beauty of the pool and surrounding landscape - has to be seen and appreciated in person!
Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Alila Ubud. From the quality of service to the food, everything is perfect down to the last detail with only minor improvements (e.g. room lighthing) to be made here and there. Highly recommended!
