“The boat from Lombok to Bali was the way forward for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

After so much research and worrying about how we would get from Lombok to Bali with two very young children, I feel it is only fair to post this review as the journey was a total success and absolutely seamless. we were advised to fly by friends who live there, some very knowledgeable trip advisor regulars, but we decided to take the boat. Lion Air had recently had an incident and we thought as it was not the wet season we would take the boat. we were also staying in North Lombok near the Gili Islands and travelling to Nusa Dua in Bali, both of which were almost point to point for the boat.
So, we had a 1 and 3 year old and even took our own life jackets for them. the boat was on time, brand new, had life jackets for everyone on board, plenty of comfortable seats with no overcrowding and took 2hrs 15 minutes. The ride was really quite smooth until the last half an hour where it was quite bumpy but we always felt safe and comfortable. At the other end the cars were ready and waiting to take us to our destinations and it was extremely well organised with no unnecessary hanging around. I would definitely recommend this if you are staying close to the boat ports at either end of the journey!

“Smooth Way to Gili”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Have tried their services for return to Gili Terawangan on 8 and 10 March 2013. They are on time. Good services by the crew. Comfort boat with a good design. A long the way I may slept well even the tide a bit high. They done the transfer very well.

Just one thing, the crew didn't introduce us how the safety procedure before we depart. Overall all good.

“Convenient Way to get to Gilli T”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

After looking at a number of options to get to Gilli T, we chose the Bluewater Express.

It was one of the cheapest and fastest ways to get to the Gilli Islands and we were happy we chose them.

Being picked up from your hotel and taken to the port was also an added convenience. Now that the Lombok International airport has moved, taking the express to Gilli T now appears the fastest way to get there, particularly if you include all the waiting times at the airport.

Sea Sickness tablets were provided to us for our comfort, but were not required, the ride was smooth!

I also enjoyed the fact we could sit on the roof of the boat!
Thanks for a fast, friendly and efficient trip!!

“Excellence in Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We recently holidayed in the Gili Islands and used Bluewater Express from Serangan (Bali). The trip over was run efficiently and to schedule. Where Bluewater really excelled was the return trip. The seas had been very rough (5m swell) and no boats were running from the islands to Bali. We popped into their office on Gili T to see if they had any ideas of how we could get back to catch our flight back to Australia. The lady in the office was FANTASTIC! She arranged for a speedboat to Lombok, an airconditioned mimbus to Mataram airport, and then the flight from Lombok to Denpasar. At no extra cost, I might add. Everything was handled super professionally and efficiently. Thanks Bluewater, we were able to enjoy the last few days of our holiday without having to worry about anything.

“Good to cross the water just don't get the bus transfer!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We caught the blue water express from Gili Meno to Padang Bai via Lombok. Firstly, there was a lot of confusion as to how we were actually getting there. After multiple (around 5 times) questioning and being told to "come!" "No sit!" "You come now, no wait you sit still" we were told to get on a local boat that would take us out to a buoy where blue water express boat was waiting.

We finally got on the boat and was a fairly smooth ride to Padang Bai, where the hassle started. We were held up there in a restaurant (where they direct all passengers) for "five minutes" while the bus came. One, 11 seater bus came for about 25 people. Even though the company rep had all our vouchers, the connection between the amount of vouchers in his hand and how many buses he would need obviously didn't connect. We were told to wait another 30 minutes while the bus was in traffic. When they ( two buses) finally came, a lot of other passengers were being shuffled amongst the buses and were clearly agitated. It was hot, there were flies everywhere as usual and no air conditioning in the buses.

After around 15 minutes of shuffling passengers we were finally on our way on what would be the most dangerous, unprofessional drive we'd imagine. Bali roads are treacherous to say the least, but meeting an oncoming truck, almost running a scooter off the road and creating a third line of traffic as if it was normal was just some of the encounters we faced.

All good to get the transfer from the islands back to Bali but I would definitely reccommend getting your own transport from Padang Bai. Maybe the guys who are straight in your face the moment you put your first foot back on solid ground could help!
