Rooms good,spacious with great views.Kitchenette with fridge microwave.Good shower.
Most accommodation reached by several steps and for those not used to the altitude,leaves you somewhat breathless.However, good exercise.
Food great, breakfasts to suit all tastes..Arun Kumar needs special recommendation for making dessert for a gluten intolerant member of our party.All staff are very helpful.
If you are from Europe this is a great resort to try being in the W.E.M. and from where to experience Shimla. If you are within India you already know this is a great place to stay!!

The Resort is a very good property having many cottages & rooms situated on hilltop.The view is nice.The main negative factor is the approach road which is very difficult to drive for a new person.The resort people charge for every trip up & down.

We made a quick driving trip to Dehradoon & Mussoorie, just after Dushera.
While the location of the resort is amazing - driving up to the hotel can be a bit tricky - if you are not very good at driving in the hills. However, you could call the resort from the mall road & they send a vehicle or a driver down to drive you up to the main level.

Its a newly acquired Mahindra property, so its still not upto the mark in all respects. For instance, it does not have a grocery store like other Cl Mh properties, and if you are staying longer & with kids - that can be a downside. The Funzone is good - but again still lacks adequate in house adventure sports activities. Bonfire / barbeque is good. Food quality is excellent and the Chef was extra good - trying to cater to even individual requests for a special dish during busy hours.

We had some car trouble, & though it was a long weekend - the security in-charge could arrange for a helpful mechanic to come by - early in the morning to attend to it.
The local site seeing is un-necessarily hyped. Form your own itinerary, based on your likings !
A very cool relaxed Stay !

We visited AValon Resorts in April 2012 for an overnight stay. The hotel is well placed on the hillside with terrific view of the Doon Valley. It was drizzling that night and the lights from the Valley were glittering . Even the sharp cold could not drive us away from the view. However, one should be in decent fitness to stay here. You have steep climbs to go for any facility, even the dining room and no sign of any elevators. Any way this seems to be the case in most resorts in hill stations in our country. The room( apartment !) we occupied was quite well equipped and well maintained and also good service.
