If you're looking for a home-stay outside of the bazaar, with a pleasant environment, scenic surroundings and warm hospitality, then Bethany is the place for you. The rooms are cozy, the food delicious, the staff courteous and the hosts, Sunita and Amarjeet, a pleasure to interact with. You will get a homely environment, not a feel that you're in a hotel or lodge. But be warned - the walk up and down is steep!

Thank you for taking out the time to review us and I am very sorry for such a delayed response. However you would be glad to know that this time has been well spent in making "your home" more comfortable for all its future guests! We now have a few additions to the house which I am sure you would like.

We have also been busy in taking forward our commitment to the environment and the local community further and are working extensively with the close by villages that were affected by the floods last year. These efforts are now yielding results and we have managed to positively impact lives of more that 500 families. We would love to share all this with you in your future visits.

Looking forward to welcoming you home once again. Take care & God Bless.

warm regards

From the time we arrived at La Villa Bethany Sunita, our hostess, made our stay comfortable. We were treated like family members, rather than paying guests. The rooms, albeit a bit small, were very comfortable and didn't leave us wanting for much else. The politeness of the staff was un-matched. We were lucky to meet with Amarjeet towards the end of our stay and that made our stay complete. The cherry on the top was meeting their little daughter, Abigail. She befriended our 8 year old daughter (whom she called Didi) and that gave us the time to explore the hill side and go about meeting with old and new friends without having to worry about her.
I truly recommend La Villa Bethany to any one who wants a comfortable stay in a "home away from home" environment. To my family and I, it is always about the overall comfort rather than the amenities that prompt us to select a place to stay and LVB scores on that count.

Room Tip: If you are a small family with one or two small children, ask for the Bedell Suite.

Villa Bethany is a home away from home with excellent service and the most warm hearted hosts Amarjeet and Sunita.
It is a beautiful + skillfully renovated guesthouse surrounded by the majestic mountains. The rooms have a great view and the interior is tasteful.
Amarjeet and Sunita are not oly superb hosts, but becoae real friends in a short time. Not one evening passed that we were not invited for that extra cup of tea and a time of fellowship, exchanging ideas, opinions, experiences and personal convictions till late at night. Both deeply care for their community and do all they can to promote and help.
I want to thank you for a most pleasant and memorable stay. Till we meet again.

It is difficult to imagine a better place for us to have stayed during our visit to Landour. My wife spent much of her childhood there and attended school at Woodstock, a short walk from Bethany. Although we did not know this before our arrival, Sunita and her husband, Amarjeet, are very involved in learning about and preserving the history of the Landour community. This commitment is seen in the manner in which they have renovated and are operating Bethany as a home-stay, by which they have preserved the historical character of the property.

We stayed in a suite, which was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. We enjoyed all of our meals. The property is also in an exceptionally beautiful setting. From our balcony, there was a fine view down to Woodstock and the town. At night, the Doon Valley sparkled beyond. Next to the house, a 40' red rhododendron tree was in full bloom. Also, the property sits just below the Upper Chukkar, from which we enjoyed spectacular views of the Himalayas on our morning walks.

Best of all was the time spent visiting with Sunita. She also made every possible effort to assist us in reconnecting with people and places from my wife’s childhood, and she did so with highly-personable kindness and enthusiasm. This included taking us on walk to visit one of the houses in which my wife’s family had lived many decades ago, and then accompanying us on down for a visit to Woodstock school.

Sunita’s husband, Amarjeet, unfortunately was away on business. But we very much enjoyed the company of their exuberant young daughter, Shrushti, and of Sunita’s gracious mother. Also, Bethany is run with the help of several fine staff members who grew up in Landour, and who also helped make the visit one we will long remember. Raja, for example, assisted us by recognizing from an old photo another house in which my wife had once lived. Sunita, who knew its current residents, then generously rearranged her own schedule and took us there for a visit.

In short, our visit was exceptional. Because of Sunita, we both felt that our stay was more of a homecoming.

We were actually trying to stay at another place in Landour, but they didn't have space and we were guided to Bethany.

This proved to be a godsend, as we had a very comfortable and relaxed stay. Our kids made friends with the owner's daughter quickly, and we had the unexpected (and first-time!) pleasure of not having to monitor/entertain them over the course of the weekend away from Delhi.

Me: "where are the kids?"
Wife: "no clue, playing somewhere..."
Me: "ok, wake me up for dinner"

The suites are spacious and ours had a double bed and a single for a third person - plenty of space for a couple with two young kids. On this occasion though my mother accompanied us so we had another room also, which was also sufficiently spacious. In the unit where we stayed, there were 2 rooms and 1 suite that opened out into a central lounge. The suite and one of the rooms were ours, so for all practical purposes we had one very large and comfortable suite. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

The owners have a strong commitment to sustainability and social welfare. The water in the property is solar heated and there is both piping hot and refreshingly cold water running 24x7. Bathrooms are clean and modern. Basic toiletries and clean white towels are provided.

We travel around India a lot and have learned to travel with our own linen, toiletries and towels. Pleasantly, at Bethany our sheets, towels and soaps remained packed.

The property is on the south (sunny) side of the mountain so gets sun all day. My wife spent enough time soaking up the rays on the balcony connected to the common lounge, to sunburn her nose!

There is free wi-fi of perfectly adequate speed for a graphic designer's needs, so uploading and downloading large files is easy. Flat screen TVs with TATA Sky, tea/coffee equipment and supplies in each room too.

WE drove from Delhi, and while Bethany does not have it's own parking there is plenty of parking space available on the main road. Remember also, that this is Landour/Sister's Bazaar. There are very few safer places in the world!

THere's a a very short walk down to the property from the main road that feels somewhat longer on the way up.

I would hasten to add though, that I'm 5'9" and weigh almost 110kg. If an old, fat and sedentary guy like me can go up and down a couple of times a day, AND know that he'll go back, the walk shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone! Sunita said they have ordered a golf cart to ferry people up and down in the future.

The staff is very helpful and differentiates BEthany from other places we have stayed at. Sunita, the Innkeeper, has a deep knowledge and love of Mussoorie. She smiles easily and often, even when busy and dealing with cooking dinner for a full house! Food is tasty and interesting. Tastes home-made. Masala chai to die for.

We had a terrific stay and highly recommend it!

La Villa Bethany is the best place to stay in Mussoorie. Bethany provides delicious home food and maintain a totally hygienic kitchen. The beds are really comfortable, the bathrooms are spotless, there is a wonderful hot shower, western style toilets, and all the other amenities of a top hotel. The family that runs Bethany has opened a wonderful library, common room, and dining room for guests to relax. You can sit on the verandah and enjoy stunning mountain sunsets with dinner. The hotel is eco and socially friendly - utilizing solar water and local products produced by women's groups. Stay at Bethany!

Room Tip: The two suite rooms are in a separate building. The upstairs suite offers the most privacy. That bei...
