The Vermont Estate and the surrounding Mussoorie area are quite lovely. The staff of the Vermont are very warm and accommodating and the views were breathtaking. I plan on returning back to the Vermont.

The past few weeks had been very hectic for me...I almost worked through the last 3 of them...so on a Monday morning my someone asked me to be free on the following weekend or leave home...on a Wednesday a nice person at my workplace told me about the Amber resort by Vermont estate in Mussoorie... so on Friday late evening i and my consequential someone packed our bags and were off to discover this new place...
an hours journey upwards of Mussoorie we discovered this wonderful and beautiful serene place tucked away from the hustle bustle of the crowded Mussoorie below, a place of composure and relief...hiding beneath a thick layer of forestation was Amber the resort by Vermont estate...the place was beautiful from the outside without a doubt but in the inside it was a marvel - sophisticated and suave were the feelings inside our hearts and finally the rooms we checked into were beyond words of praise...overlooking a scenic view which is next to impossible in Mussoorie but we did find it thanks to the forestation all around...by the time the Sun fell the view had become even more spectacular...the silhouette lighting on the porch with the white arm chairs and a glass of wine was blissful...
we had been there only for a few hours but we already started feeling rejuvenated and delighted... the room staff invited us for dinner in the dining area and i must say the food was great...it was the first day of a beautiful weekend and the next day was even more beautiful...serene, calm, rejuvenating and delighted were the feelings in our mind and our heart felt satisfied...but as the evening neared, me and the someone dreaded the feeling of parting ways with this man made heaven on Earth and made an impromptu decision of extending the weekend by one more day...and it was worth it...on our way back to Delhi we decided the destination for our next weekend escapade like the perfect weekend escapade we had at the Vermont Resort!!!
Thumbs up all the way...

Every once in a while we come across experiences that are simply out of this world..times when we are so happy that we wish time and life could just come to a stand still allowing us savour it forever...our stay at The vermont estate was this and much more.
Mussoorie is super crowded and is therefore one of my least liked hill stations but also the most convenient for a quick break from the hectic life in Delhi. This was my 6th trip to mussoorie and I really wasn't very excited about it, but the ease of access (a very comfortable train journey followed by an hour or so in a cab) compelled me once again.

The vermont estate was highly recommended by our friends who had recently stayed here and was the only glimmer of hope that might make my trip worthy. So with very high expectations from the resort we set out on our journey and I am glad that we did. The resort is on haathi paaon road which meant that we were able to reach it without having to pass through the madness of mall road.

This is a boutique resort with exceptionally high standards of service. They took us under their wing from the second we reached. Their attention to detail is unbelievable and nothing was too much trouble. Our wishes were realized even before we finished uttering them.

Located just a few Kms above the mall road it is far enough to be peaceful, serene and untouched while close enough for a quick mandatory trip to the center of mussoorie. The staff makes everything simple and their free shuttle service was at our beck and call throughout the trip. btw..the free internet is quite fast.

The views are breathtaking and unobstructed while the resort itself has an unbeatable old world charm despite the presence of every conceivable modern luxury. We spent hours at the gorgeous deck and are already planning our next trip to this heaven.

On our way up towards Mussoorie, we didn't have the slightest clue about what we were going to experience... While we planned our trip as a weekend getaway, the only thought in our mind was to be far from the Mussoorie crowd in a secluded, quiet location... We got to know about this location above Mussoorie called "The Vermont Estate" through an acquaintance of ours. We got to know that this property was above Mussoorie and was surrounded by the wilderness. It seemed like the place we were looking for. Excited, we all packed our bags and embarked on a road trip to this all new destination above Mussoorie.

Traveling on the curving and swaying path up into the hills, we crossed Mussoorie and around 3 kms ahead further into the hills, we reached the resort we were eagerly waiting to see. Placed in the center of the hills was this cute little property, covered with trees. We descended down the driveway, came out of the vehicle and were treated to the most amazing view of the hills we had ever scene is our life... far from the hustle bustle of the city, we were standing in the garden looking at mountains as far as our eyes could see.

After taking a good look and feel of the view and location, we got to the reception which was equally well kept. After checking in, we were directed to a set of cottages with four rooms in each cottage, out of which we occupied one. After freshening up, we went for lunch where well cooked, simple yet delicious Indian dishes were waiting for us. We filled up out empty stomachs, came out and landed on the deck adjacent to the reception...

With brilliant weather giving us good company, we lay there on the loungers, just chilling out, talking, enjoying he scenic beauty of the place... We knew that this was by far the best property we had visited in any of the hill stations in terms of service, hospitality, food, ambience, and the most important thing, the location...

We spent the rest of the day chilling and relaxing on the deck. In the evening, we decided to look at the entire property. We asked the manager, if he would show us around the property. He readily agreed and we went around the property, looking around the various rooms, the views etc. While on the round, the game room caught our eye. It had a beautiful pool table with nice cue sticks and balls. We planned to spend the rest of our evening playing pool and drinking beer. By late evening, cool wind was blowing through the windows of the game room, while we were playing and enjoying our glass of beer with the company of hot and tasty veg and non veg snacks at our service..

Finally we finished the games and went for dinner. Both their continental and Indian servings were very well prepared. After finishing our dinner, we came out wandered around the garden, looking at the sky above filled with stars (a very rare sight in the city). The complete silence was very very soothing to our ears. After roaming around the garden for a while, we retired to our room for a wonderful and comfortable nights sleep.

I woke up next morning to the sound of birds chirping on the trees near the balcony. The morning scenery with the cool wind blowing across your face was one of the coolest things ever. Slight mist enveloped the mountains in front of us and we sat in the front porch sipping our morning tea.

We had to leave the place in the afternoon, so we got ready, stayed around the deck for a while and then left back for Delhi. We all are travelers who have been to several hill stations and other locations across north India, but this property was something we had not experienced in a very long time. The Vermont Estate is certainly one of the locations which had given us an entirely new feel of the hills. We certainly would come back to the place year after year.

The Amber Vermont Estate is a boutique retreat in the Himalayas. Vermont Estate was originally built in the latter half of the 19th century by a Britisher and is one of the oldest estates in the Himalayan town of Mussoorie. It has been refurbished to retain the atmosphere of a traditional English cottage with the addition of modern amenities. The property is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Mussoorie. The location, and the mix of modern comfort, old English charm and personalized service make The Amber Vermont Estate a treasure in Mussoorie. In the early 1800's, Vermont Estate was part of a grand estate called Logie Estate owned by the well-known Dr. Hugh Falconer. Dr. Falconer was a Scottish geologist, botanist, and paleontologist. He was the first to discover the remains of fossil mammals in the Siwalik Hills of India. In 1832, Falconer became the Superintendent of the Saharanpur Botanical Gardens, one of the oldest existing gardens in India. ... more   less
