“A place worth a visit not only for religion but also for history..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

While moving from Delhi to Agra, we got a chance to have a quick visit at Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura. We reached during late evening and temple seemed to have been less crowded. I had a fear of facing few Hindu Priests (Pandas) who grab you at these places and then force you to do various poojas (prayers) through which you need to pay them (I had worst experience at Kali Ghat temple – Kolkata). Luckily we met a school student here who was part time guide for the temple and he clarified of guiding us without any money for poojas so we hired him for Rs. 150. He took us through various temples and explained in brief about each temple which was a pleasant experience. The jail area although claimed to be an original place where lord Krishna was born, it does not seem to be real. He took us through the main temple which has beautiful idol of Lord Krishna with Radha and also showed us the nearby mosque built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb which closely attached to the temple. Overall, it was very fine experience and apart from being religious, one should visit the temple to get some glimpse of the history as well as to feel the aura of Lord Krishna. Sweet lassi in the temple compound is also worth trying. Overall worthy a place to visit for.

“Most awesome temple - must watch !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Mathura is the birth city of Lord Krishna, and this temple is the exact place where lord is said to have been born thousands of years ago. The prison cell has been now transformed in a beautiful temple. The building and sculptures are outstanding. You can find hundreds of painting on walls describing different phases of life of Krishna. Lakhs of devotees throng the temple during Janmashtami. The festivities and celebrations during the festival is famous all over India. This place is very sensitive from religious and terrorist point of view so there are police force around the temple area. You can't take any gadget inside the temple. You will need to submit it to locker rooms.

“Place To Find Rest Inside You”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

In Mathura there are 100 plus temples but this temple is one of the famous temple.

What a marvlous exciting place for visit can't explain in words.

This place is the most sacred place for hindus.Buildings are awesome scluptures are outstanding.

Because this place is very sensitive from religious and terrorist point of view so there are alot of police checkpost.
You can't take any gaget inside the temple even your car keys so can't take snapshot inside the temple.

If you have any then you have to submit it to the temple locer room and they 'll give you a slip, this locer room is just right side of the main gate, you can ask anyone there about it.

You can take taxi or auto to reach there but beware of cheaters and beggers.

We go ther from agra by car so don't know much about it's distance from railway station or busstand.

Filthy roads, open drainage, people split everywhere and more over the horrible guides who do not wish to pray god in peace.
