While moving from Delhi to Agra, we got a chance to have a quick visit at Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura. We reached during late evening and temple seemed to have been less crowded. I had a fear of facing few Hindu Priests (Pandas) who grab you at these places and then force you to do various poojas (prayers) through which you need to pay them (I had worst experience at Kali Ghat temple – Kolkata). Luckily we met a school student here who was part time guide for the temple and he clarified of guiding us without any money for poojas so we hired him for Rs. 150. He took us through various temples and explained in brief about each temple which was a pleasant experience. The jail area although claimed to be an original place where lord Krishna was born, it does not seem to be real. He took us through the main temple which has beautiful idol of Lord Krishna with Radha and also showed us the nearby mosque built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb which closely attached to the temple. Overall, it was very fine experience and apart from being religious, one should visit the temple to get some glimpse of the history as well as to feel the aura of Lord Krishna. Sweet lassi in the temple compound is also worth trying. Overall worthy a place to visit for.
