As a lot of people have suggested, the entry and foyer of the Hotel are quite impressive and the rooms are a bit of a let down, but it is what it is, a 3 Star Hotel charging 3 Star prices.
We experienced much worse in other areas throughout India.
Beds were a bit hard (for my wife) and there was some problem with the electric in the city a few times throughout our stay which was frustrating but not the Hotel's fault. Besides we were to experience much worse power outages later in India and Nepal. But the restaurant was OK, staff were helpful, water was hot (sort of) and shower and bathroom was OK. Hotel had an elevator which was good after a lot of stairs and walking. Rooms a bit tired and linens as well but as I say 3 stars in India is not 3 stars in US. Didn't really spend much time in the room as there is so much to see and experience in Varanasi and Sarnarth, besides we were exhausted when first checked in the first morning after an interesting overnight train trip from Agra.
Have to go next door for WiFi
So all in all no real complaints as we feel we got what we paid for. Varanasi was also fascinating which made it all worthwhile despite the minor irritations. Would like to have had longer there than 2 days.
