hotel is in a great location, right where all the action is, its near the main ghat in the old town, has large clean rooms, great veiws from the rooftop, lots of hotwater, this is a newish hotel owned by the same people that own the brown bread bakery, they donate a portion of they`re profits to the womens and childrens charity.

This place is truly incredible. From the point I was collected from the station I was constantly looked after by Balla and his colleagues. 25% of all profits go to Learn for Life helping local children go to school. It was nice to stay in a place were I was not constantly being harrased to buy things. This was the first place in India where I could truly relax.

I highly recommend this place! I stayed in Varanasi two days, one night in Rudra Guest House. It is amazing place, not only because the place is very nice, clean, amazing location next to the main ghat, nice rooftop overlooking Ganga river, but then I think the main value of this place is the people working there. Owner is very welcoming, making the atmosphere very homelike. The service is extremely nice, showing you great places in Varanasi. Especially big thanks Balla, because of whom I could really learn a lot about Indian culture, habits, family and of course he showed me beautiful sights in Varanasi. So DO STAY A THIS PLACE!

P.S Laluga supports local school by giving them 20% of the income - very nobel, another good reason to stay there

Booked by hostelworld.com. Very pleased with airport pickup, they waited for us despite the two hour delay to the flight, which we were very grateful for. Lovely greeting from Mogli and Balla, given gifts of flower necklace for Diwali which was really nice. they were very attentive, and were our tour guides for 2 days, without pay. Rooms basic but very clean, with air conditioning and fan. Fantatic breakfast included in room price, available at rooftop restaruant a well a brown bread bakery. Small problem with hot water on our first day, but was very wquickly resolved by Mogli so we could have hot showers (another guest had actually turned it off and we didnt realise) Mogli and Balla gave us a great tour of varanasi temples on the first day, as well a going to see the famous weavers, whih is something you should all do., We were very well looked after. We had a great stay with Mogli and Balla, they are greast fun. Slight problem with noie, but the festival is the main reason - the hotel was very busy the second night for Divali so excited families woke us up! It was like Christmas. Would recommend to other travellers looking for basic, clean, relatively cheap accommodation, with fantastic service.Excellent. and even better that 20% profit goes to the school.

Room Tip: all rooms the same. Double check the hot water is on before you go to bed. Hotel will sort it very q...

I would strongly discourage anybody from selecting this hotel. Not only did the rooms appear very rundown compared to the pictures, but the staff were completely hopeless. It seemed they just wanted to make money from you via taxis, astrology, etc. There was an emergency situation in the middle of the night - an American man needed hospitalization, and the staff wanted nothing to do with it, claiming they didnt even know the phone number for an ambulance. The owner of the hotel seemed like a decent person, but he was rarely there, and the other staff were awful. Steer clear of this place, it only brought me trouble.

Very good location in the old city, just 5 minutes walking to the main gath Dasaswamedh, but don't expect a "touristic neighborhood" like Thamel in Kathmandu or something.
The room was very good and quite clean, the same about the bathroom.
They have a roof top restaurant with a very nice menu, and you can also have breakfast there which is very good.
The staff is absolutly nice, kind a helpful, they're always care about your stay.
The best here is also that they work with "Learn for life" organization, so they donate part of the money that you pay for you stay, for the bakery food, and you also can go there as a volunteer.

My friends and I had a great trip in Varanasi during the last 2 days. I would like to thank particularly Balla and his colleague that took us into the city and enabled us to visit its most famous places.
We had a wonderful time on the boat for the sunrise thanks to the advice of Balla.
Thanks to Rudra's staff for their hospitality, for their very confortable rooms that made us enjoy Varanasi a lot.
