Location - The Inn is a house converted into a hotel. Located way off the main road. Quite inaccessible, for public transport, auto and taxis. The approach to the hotel is through an unpaved road. The hotel is surrounded by village like houses with cattle. You get same view from the common balcony at 1st floor. The hotel is unsuitable if you are visiting city for Kashi Vishwanath temple or Banaras ghats. Main tourist attractions are 7 kms away from this place.
Room - Rooms are large but had strong paint smell, walls have peeling paint. A/c and TV work fine. No hot water was available in our room. Despite many reminders they could not fix our water heater. Had to take bath in the common corridor bathroom.
Local transport - Auto rickshaws are the best mode of transport in Varanasi. The hotel has a tie up with few auto drivers and can be called on request by the hotel. However the hotel charges these auto drivers for taking there guest. As a result, the you end up paying 250 rupees for a one way auto fare, which in effect should not be more than 50 to 100. No auto or taxi stand is available outside the hotel and you need to walk a good 200 mts to catch one. Hence, money saved on this off beat location is offset by this daily transport (costing at least 500 rupees a day)
Hospitality - Some staff are quite quite helpful, specially the room service and housekeeping. Generally speaking we felt the hotel is happier to host gullible foreign tourist who could be fleeced for package tours, expensive transport, guide service and silk weaving factory visit/ Sale of inflated priced silk products.
Food and dining - No restaurant available, room service menu kept at the hotel is over priced for the kind of place and choices given. My advice would be to eat out near the ghaat area. The food ordered was, at best average. No tea available before 7 am.
Reception - We had pre- booked for room with breakfast and out final bill had breakfast charged to us. Response to most basic requests like soaps, towels, mosquito repellent, tea takes a bit of time. The worst however was the transport fraud. While checking out, we requested for a paid drop to the railway station. The reception organized a drop that was most inconvenient to us. The hotel dropped us at the rear end of the railway station (closer to the hotel). We had to cross the entire station on foot with an invalid and heavy luggage to tow. This despite our request to drop us to the nearest point.
First floor a/c rooms.
