“Good hotel, rooms a little cramped for 4 people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

Jaypee Palace hotel is a very good hotel with friendly staff. You are greeted with a garland of flowers as you arrive. Check in is fast. The hotel is quite big and therefore, it's quite a walk to the room. We were 2 adults and 2 children in one room and it got very cramped. The furnishings in the room were of good quality and the room opened out to a terrace which went to the hotel lawns. The kids had lots of room to run around.

Breakfast was a spread with Indian and Western dishes. Checkout was a breeze.

This is a high end property that has every comfort that one ends during a holiday. The staff is super attentive (sometimes too much), the food is great and selections are plentiful. The rooms are clean and big, with nice amenities. Staff is very well trained and screened. If you are looking for a very nice stay, along with good service, this is the place. Beautiful facility.

Five star structure and price - people managing the hotel not so.
Had to ask for the same things several time to get the followup promised immediately each time.
Internet wifi service is chargeable and only for one device at a time - the room rent is easily enough to make this free and limitless.
Noise in the corridors reached our room like there was no wall or doors in between - a big problem when it is common for people to talk noisily in the hotel corridors in India.

The hotel is very large, as expected from a convention centre. What is not expected is the chaos that prevails, from check in to check out. There seems to be sufficient staff, but they don't know what to do. They all have to check with someone else for help with even the simplest questions. Lack of training and a tendency to gather to chat with each other instead of helping customers. Location is OK, a few km from Agra and about 3 km from the East Gate of the Taj. Taxi is needed to go anywhere, and the only taxis available are those arranged by the hotel which are remarkably more expensive than the norm. Chaos for me started at check in: nobody helped me or guided me to the check in counter, which in fact does not exist. There are instead several desks, which at the time I checked in were either vacant or overflowing witha group of chinese visitors. Next my first room did not have electricity, and when the lights finally came on the surrounding rooms were bustling with families and what seemed like hundreds of screaming children. The duty manager was kind enough to move us to a better room (Thank you Mr. Amit!). As we walked to our room through a very long corridor the air was full of some solvent that workers were using to clean the floors. My nose tells me it was toluene, an organic solvent that is very very bad for your health. How the workers could endure the smell is beyond my comprehension. My wife and I got headaches from walking through the fumes for just a few minutes. Main chaos happened at check out: only one person in attendance literally answering 2 phones and dealing with customers, questions, paper, all this while his colleagues were busy talking to each other. I had to push out about 20 local tourists that did not know the meaning of "I'm ahead of you in this line". I was pushed, my luggage was trampled, my wife was arguing with even more local tourists, and meanwhile staff continued to chat instead of helping. In short, the hardware is good but the software needs training. I would not return to this hotel, nor would I recommend it as prices are higher than other similar quality properties in the area.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from nosiy kids, preferably in buildings 1 or 2.

When you are in Agra, you would like to see the royalty, come to think of it, Agra has been a royal capital for a large part of the Mughal Empire. This Palace Hotel has abundance of space with large rooms, large grounds and lots of activities including Bowling alley etc. A beautiful stay as it is just 4kms from the Taj and about 6km from the famed Agra Fort. Was here for a destination wedding, absolutely loved the food spread - simple but appetising.

Room Tip: Choose a room near to the reception as further down it could be 5 mins walk !!

I stayed with my family for three days in this hotel. We were attending a national conference. This was during the second week of December 2013.

1. This is a 5 star facility, the television set must have been purchased at least 10 years back, the phone must have been purchased at least 15 years back. Such antique pieces.

2. The room service will give you exactly two sugar pockets for making your coffee, nothing more.

3. There are too many hotel employees in this hotel. When you walk down the aisle to the dining or reception, you can spot several of them cleaning/dusting something. This hustle and bustle will continue for full 24 hours.

4. This facility is not for Indian citizens. You can feel it the moment you enter the premises. If you are white skinned, you will be garlanded and welcomed.

5. The breakfast buffet is another joke. If you are a south Indian, do not try their south Indian, they will be very poorly made. Well, then you can ask why to taste in Agra, a south Indian delicacy, but as a 5 star hotel, they are supposed to make it good.

Room Tip: This is for conventions, marriages. Ask for a room quite far away from such halls so that you can sl...

Good facilities, large room with good shower, neat and nice surroundings within hotel compound. Attentive staff at front office and housekeeping. Food at the Grand Buffet was average. Expected a better spread of continental and Indian dishes but seems to be limited. Mineral water charges are exorbitantly high (for a normal locally produced brand).
