We stayed here for four nights in october 2012, everyone told us we didn't need to spend four nights in Agra as there wasn't a lot to see, but we wanted time to relax.
First the good, this hotel is really good, it is set i its own grounds so you can escape the mayhem of Agra, the room was clean , the shower was good, the room was a good size as well and had all the facilities you would expect from a four or five star place. The hotel has two nice swimming pools, a good gym where they provide free bottled water whilst you're working out, two restaurants and a bar. The bar is in the lobby but the staff here are friendly, in fact the friendliest in the hotel. The hotel also has a viewing deck where you can view the Taj Mahal, it is about 4km away, but a good view. The hotel also got us a car to take us to the Taj Mahal, for a reasonable price, once out we used Auto rickshaws to get around Agra.
The food in the hotel depends where you eat. Their main restaurant we felt was lacking in quality unless you ordered Indian food ( I know, we're in India, but there was a huge difference in quality between the Indian food and the international) The breakfast buffet was not worth the money, there is an A La Carte breakfast selection but the hotel won't tell you about this unless you ask for the A La Carte menu at breakfast. The second restaurant on site was called Peshwari, and the food here was amazing, but it is very pricey. The staff at the restaurant are friendly as well. Just a word of advice about the restaurant, the food portions are really big, we ate here twice, the first time we each ordered a main meal and had far too much food, so the second time we shared a main, which was ample food for both of us.
Now the bad part about the hotel, apart from the bar and restaurant the hotel staff are really pretentious and treated us like we were below them, we were ignored for ages when trying to check in, and almost accused of trying to take two extra cans of pepsi from the mini bar on checkout. When I travel I dress like a traveler, three quarter length shorts and backwards cap, and i am young, it appeared they took this to mean I was less worthy of attention than anyone else, all I'm saying is they appear to judge a book by its cover.
But the good points really over compensated for the staff so all in all i would recommend staying here, if you don't mind paying for it, and the food, which is very pricey.
