I really wish all hotels were run like the Trident in Agra. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. The rooms are clean and spacious, the grounds are amazing the food fantastic. I hope one day to return and spend some more time in this beautiful place.

What a pleasant surprise it was to step out of the filth and stench of Agra into this wonderful hotel.

I have travelled extensively and stayed in some luxurious hotels and this one is certainly up there with the best.

Definitely MUCH better than I was expecting for the price.

Of course the only reason foreigners go to Agra is to visit the Taj Mahal and this hotel is one of the closest (if not THE closest).

We stayed in the Trident Oberoi for a business trip to Agra. Staff of the hotel is very friendly and very hospitable. They will really do their utmost to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are good, although the bathrooms are a bit outdated. Restaurant, lobby and all other public areas are great. Beds are comfortable. And the hotel is located just a few minutes away from the beautiful Taj Mahal... Need I say more?

We stayed in Trident after reading the good reviews from Tripadvisor. This was the worst Trident we had ever stayed in. At first, We weren give the wrong rooms. It was promised to give us the pool view rooms but there was no pool view unless and until you stand on one leg at the corner of the room and then try to see. A/C was not working talked to the staff about it and they did not care. Walkway to the room was so stinky that we had to put perfume on the handkerchief and then walk back and forth from the room. Furniture and fixture were like MOTEL 6. Really really bad experience.

I would like to mention here that we had stayed in Jaipur Trident and Udaypur Trident. We had very good experience there.

A nice looking lobby and a welcoming staff but after two weeks of travelling Rajasthan I found this a bit of a cultural slap in the face bringing me right back to earth.

It was full of coach groups and Westerners petrified to step outside the hotel unless it involved a guide or pre-booked ticket.

The restaurant felt very corporate and I thought at any point at dinner a work colleague would tap me on the shoulder and ask me if I fancied a quick drink after the conference.

There was one whole half of the restaurant taken up by an Australian coach group who were on their last night and being handed out awards by their tour guide VERY loudly.

Outside in the lush green gardens was a group of about 60 waiting to be told when they could leave their tables and queue up for the buffet laid on.

The choice of food was good but we chose the a la carte menu as opposed to the 'as much as you can eat' indian buffet. Given our choices cost more I was really annoyed it took nearly 30mins for a salad starter and another 20mins for a pizza (my first non indian food in over 2 weeks). It was lovely but took way too long.

The room was perfectly nice but lacked any charm and personality. Clean, fresh, mosquito-free and with everything you would want but if you didn't know any better you could be in Milton Keynes.

I also have to say I find the exorbitant costs of drivers that these hotels quote a true reflection of their cheekiness/greediness. We had a driver already organised to take us from Agra to Delhi for £45. The hotel quoted £230!

The hotel said their price was based on time the driver would take and said it was 7-8hrs.
We had a Toyota Innova with AC and it took 4hrs.

The hotel is a little dated, and could use a remodel, but it was comfortable and clean. The staff and their customer service more than made up for the flaws of the hotel. The food was good, and the buffett breakfast was filling. The staff was friendly and went beyond the call of duty to make sure we had everything we needed. It was a relaxing stay.
