“Needs work”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

The reason we chose this hotel was specifically because of its proximity to the Taj Mahal.

We checked in late int he evening and the staff seemed more or less pleasant....not as gracious as other hotels we had been at in India, but definitely not the worst.

This hotel smells! I have no idea why but it smells! From the corridors to the rooms themselves...STINKS!

The room had such an unpleasant stink that we left both the fan and the a/c on as we went to dinner hoping to penetrate the smell. Didn't work!

Speaking of dinner, the restaurant is airy spacious and quite attractive. The do a brilliant basket of Indian breads (that we took away to enjoy later) and the food was not bad....oily but not bad.

The bathroom was not filthy but it wasn't clean either (the waste bin in the bathroom still held the ear buds used by the rooms last occupants.....eeeewwwwwww).

There seems to be an unaddressed plumbing issue (of the sewer kind) that the hotel may be trying to mask with other "scents".

The resulting pungency is extraordinary.

The reception allowed us to order our breakfast the night before as we were leaving very early. We gave our order and the time we would be leaving. Not only did they get our order wrong (mistakenly serving us a traditional Indian breakfast as opposed to the toast and eggs we had ordered) but the waiter woke us up by VIGOUROUSLY knocking on our door.

We had indicated that we would check out at around 6 am but by 5.30 we had more than one person knocking on our door and querying whether we were ready to leave!! We had been expecting a package and the gentleman delivering it arrived at the hotel at 4 am and we only found out when we were in the process of checking out.

Strange isn't it, so ready to rouse us from a room that we have paid for until 12 midday but letting us know that a package has arrived......not important!

We checked out, all the while noting that the the only fragrant part of this hotel was the reception......why do i feel like that was intentional??

Its not the worst hotel in the world, its affordable and is close to the Taj.

However, If you can get somewhere more fragrant and at a reasonable price....go there!

We had this hotel booked through a tour which was organised in Delhi which is another story. We arrived to a dirty smelly hotel . The room had no windows and no ventilation in bathroom.luckily we arrived at five in the evening and left at 6 in the morning to go to the Taj Mahal which was amazing.i would not recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Agra.in the evening there was nowhere close to get something to eat so we sat on tithe steps to the hotel because we couldn't go into our room

Rooms were small but clean and tidy. Room service was very good and professional. Our breakfast was included in stay and was very good continental breakfast with lot of options. Terrace restaurant was the highlight of this hotel and food was also very good.Hotel staff was very cooprative and provided quick response. Overall good hotel to stay with ur family.

Room Tip: Rooms are small and enough just for 2 people

The room was without any ventilation and surely they could use some paint Job as well.
Just ordered a Tea so will not comment on the Food they serve.
Their Check In was easy to start with but that was all they had to offer.
Lift did not work and we had to climb a small staircase before reaching the room.
Not a place to stay if travelling with Family.

the staff did not bother to take our luggage when we entered the hotel. The complete hotel stinks, you can feel it as soon as you enter it. we changed the room from 1st floor to 4th floor because of the smell but no use as all the floor stinks. surprised by seeing rooms without a single window. Bathrooms are not clean and hygienic. Bad room service. worst breakfast ever had in hotels.

Never stay in Taj Inn

Room Tip: All the floors stinks

Nice location, you are supposed to be able to see the Taj from the rooftop restaurant, but we could not due to fog. Service is good, rooms are well decorated, has a nice lounge at every floor. Breakfast served was good. Sadly, our other experiences in Agra was not as memorable apart from the greatness of the Taj, the fort and Fatehpur Sikri. The people, at least the ones we met, were really awful and would try to con you out of as much money as possible. Pretty pathetic. Never ever book a bus ticket to Jaipur unless you are sure the bus is good.
