Mandarin Restaurant is located inside the complex of Hotel Yamuna View, Agra. This is in Mall Road, near Fatehabad Road, close to Agra Sadar Bazaar. This is a posh, secure location, frequented by tourists, road leading to it are excellent. The hotel complex has ample parking space and you can have a leisurely stroll.
Mandarin is the Chinese wing of the restaurants in Yamuna View Hotel (formerly Agra Hotel). There are others like Indian Restaurants etc.
Mandarin serves, in my opinion, the best Chinese food in Agra only next to Jaypees’ Chinese, which is in a different league. Mandarin compares favorably with other familiar Chinese joints like Pinch Of Spice. However, where Mandarin lacks is : it doesn’t serve momos. It should add the same in recipe.
Price is on a bit more expensive side than Pinch of Spice, but less than Jaypees. For a 4 course meals for 2, it may cost around Rs 2000/-. But I think this much you should be prepared to shell out if you want to go to a quality Chinese restaurants in places like Agra.
Interior is cozy, distinctly, tastefully Chinese-decorated (refer the attached photographs).
The restaurant-manager and main staff (Mr Vijay Paul) were courteous.
Do remember that they are very punctual. Last order they take at 11 pm in night. In my first visit I landed at 11:20 pm. They flatly refused to take any order then. So do come before 10:30 pm with your order.
Definitely if you come from MG road side (Delhi/Kanpur/Mathura side), Mandarin is located a bit far. Comparatively, Pinch Of Spice at Sanjay Place is centrally located. But once in a while if one comes to Sadar Bazaar for shopping, Mandarin is the best location to take dinner. Its not even a Km east of Sadar.
They also arrange for paying through cards (debit/credit).
Service is very prompt. Packing is nice. Food tastes good and do have a distinct taste and flavor (different from Jaypees or Yo!China or Pinch Of Spice).
The restaurant ambience is nice, silent, sparsely populated. If you want to have a relaxed, quite, romantic dinner in a cozy ambience with your beloved one, this is the place.
All in all, I give it a thumbs up. They are definitely carrying the flagship of Hotel Yamuna View high.
