We had booked mini suit it was on 2nd floor, the rooms wer cleaned and the staff service... the hospitality shown by each of the dept was too good. room service and the reception are to be appreciated for their great support and of their pleasing behaviour. food was extremely good and in totality the experience of our three day stay with Hotel Darshan was excellent and every one should try this out. Though the Hotel is vegetarian we loved the food, we had went for our 1st anniversary celebration, we ordered cake with candle light dinner and it was arranged in a proper manner.. We enjoyed it a lot.... :)

Room Tip: For couples select mini suit room on 2nd floor....

I went through all the reviews here and then booked a super deluxe room in this hotel. I should say i was happy seeing all the photos of the hotel rooms and was almost convinced that i got the right place to enjoy my stay.

When i reached the hotel my suprise slowly started to vanish. First i was told no lifts and had to go to the super deluxe room which is in the fourth floor. The super deluxe room was not so great in my opinion as all i had was an additona sofa set and the layout of the room was pretty pathetic.

The toilet was so bad as it gave a look of a third rate lodge with a worn out interior and a pipe and a buket. The closet seat cover was broken and we all were quite upset. and there was no floor mat provided in the bath room.

Came down and asked whether i can change to a room in the second floor and i was told that i need to downgrade to a mini suite (INR 2200 + tax) but still have to pay the rate of super delux (INR 2500 + tax). I just accpeted thinking that i will be given some concessions later anyways that super delux room had issues.

Finally agreed and moved into the mini suite room in the second floor to get a shock that the same issue repeated here as well. The toilet was so bad and closet seat cover was broken (got fixed after the second with so much escalation and follow-up) and no floor mat in the bath room for three days (some shortage due to some laundary issues - i was told by the front office).

As we were hungry by then wanted to have something in the restaurant down. Though i agree with others about the hospitality of the hotel none of us could tolerate the unclean tables and the sheets and the broken chairs(literally).

Please do not look at the photos of the restaurant in the website and get cheated. The sheets are pretty old and dirty and some of them have stains of sambar and gravy that you dont want to eat on that.

The food was quiet expensive though it is OKAY.
Net-net - this hotel is not for you if you are a person like me looking for hygine and neatness in toilets and restaurants. To me all the plus the hotel might have is offset by this big minus and i would never consider nor recommend to anyone that i care.

Have some photos for you to take a call yourself.

Also the front office folks could not do anything to reduce the original cost even though i did not use their super deluxe room. The reason given was quite illogical saying it is not in their control and their MD has to approve. Also since i applied via email booking and got the initial voucher i stood no chance for any concessions on the fare according to them.

On the first night i couldnt get sleep, as there was a borewell fixing operation next to the hotel (by the same hotel mgmt) creating a huge noice and none in the hotel apologied nor really cared to even ask how it affected us.

Again the biggest finding is that the lake oppsite to the hotel is not a fresh one and is mixed with sewage and the localites advised us to refrain from getting into boating or even stay closer to enjoy the air. Since we went by train to ooty and did not have car for our own usage, found difficult as nothing is available nearby as an alternative option for anything as this is far from the city.

Also the hotel does not have options for taxi all the have is indica. As i had back pain, asked for a SUV or a sedan - finally they arranged for a Logan - but this is at a higher cost than if you had booked yourself.

Net net - this hotel is not value for money and we regret having booked our rooms here for our vacation!

Had booked the rooms thru one of my friend and had checked in an evening by about 08.00pm.
the next day started with the beautiful scenery of the Ooty lake and that was fantastic. the hospitality shown by each of the dept was too good. room service and the reception are to be appreciated for their great support and of their pleasing behaviour. food was extremely good and in totality the experience of our three day stay with Hotel Darshan was excellent and every one should try this out.

Room Tip: go for the second floor rooms, which is quite and do have a good panoramic view of the lake too.

We were amazed at the high quality of service we had at this fantastic hotel. We only stayed one night but were being collected later the next day to return to Mysore. The bus was late (very) and the staff could not have been kind to us they contacted the bus company on two occasions and kept us informed of the situation. Our room was on the fourth floor and the views were spectacular. There was no lift as the rooms were set in terrraces into the hill. The food was good quality and the room very clean.

Room Tip: Go for an upper room to get the benefit of the fantastic view

It has taken me almost a year to write this review but nevertheless i thought i should write one. Me and my wife traveled in May 2012 and stayed there for a couple of nights. The check- in and check-out process was smooth. We got a room on the fourth floor and to my surprise/shock, there were no lifts. Can be a problem if elders are with you!
One good thing is the view from the rooms is fabulous and it is overlooks the Ooty lake. It had a few swings and also sit-outs where one can relax. Coming to the rooms, it was not up to the mark and it has to improve a lot. The carpets were not maintained properly and the bed-sheets were not clean and it gave a bad odour and the toilets were not neat too.The food at the restaurant is strictly OK and the quantity provided for the money is very less.

The front desk people were very helpful and they arranged our sightseeing trips, though i feel the cost for the trips was a tad expensive. Another thing which i really liked about this place is the room service, which was excellent. They were very prompt and we did not have to wait for anything. I should give a special person about one person Mr. Sashi who took care of all our needs. Overall, i feel it is a decent place to stay for a couple of days but an overall improvement is required with respect to the food and the rooms.

Pros : 1. Good view from the rooms
2. Prompt and excellent service
3. Very near to the Ooty lake.

Cons : 1. The rooms are not clean and not maintained properly.
2. No lifts
3.Food is average.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with elder people, avoid this hotel!!
