“What a place!!! Awesome view!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

This is a recent addition to places to see around ooty, This is slightly secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of Ooty. You have to travel to a place called Avalanche and from there the tours are operated by Govt of Tamilnadu forest department. it takes about an hour or so to reach the actual spot. Once you reach wow what a place what a view, couldn't believe my eyes to the sight that was in front of us!!! fantastic view of the bhavani lake amidst mountains!!! really awesome!

“Astonishing view! Best scenic beauty rarely seen..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We hired a bike to visit this location. Its a bit far like 20+km from OOty but true densed forest. Thrill ride undoubtedly. One must be courageous to go on bike as a couple. Car ride will be cool. After reaching sanctuary u have to pay some 200 per person it seems for jeep ride by safari management. In the jeep ride u could see on way some spots like mushroom forest, small water falls and finally Avalanche.
we really wondered by reaching there because its such a great spot where we rarely see on movies. Have nice camera too click on high resolution scenes. if u walk down u will find a 13ft water fall. But the water is truly herbal and pure, very tasty. In a nut shell if u r a nature lover your trip will not complete without this.

Avalanche is a place on the way to Manzoor in Nilagiries. The place is quite and the silence of the nature is something which gives solace and peace to all creatures.

“not to miss!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Kids loved this drive in a SUV inside the forest. The walk to the lake is an experience in itself. loved the scenaray. on the way back a fallen tree blocked the road.. private vehicles are not allowed inside and the forest department have 2 hour tours at 9.00 am, 11.00 am, 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm @ Rs.150 per person. Take packed food as nothing is available except for some soft drinks, biscuits.

“hidden gems of ooty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

its 20 km from ooty . On reaching the entrance , private vehicles are not allowed inside .we have to buy tickets . its 150 rupees per adult which include vehicle charge.they accommodate 8 members in jeep (tavera, sumo etc) and 20 in a mini van. It’s a 7km drive thru’ thick forest to a dam. On the way they stop at two spots . one for a view and the next at the spring where river bhavani originates. The roads are good. Though there is a small canteen its advisable to take packed lunch. The best time is 1st batch or the final batch of the vehicle as animals may be sighted. Timing 8am to 3.00pm. though the board mentions only 10 vehicles per day. They have contract for 10 vehicles which goes to-fro all thru’ the day.
