“Nothing special. Road is pathetic to the peak”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

Nothing special. Road is pathetic to the peak. I think the amount of money Ooty authorities are earning from tourism is huge. I think they can fix the road to the top. Traffic jams are common. Go early in the morning to have a pleasant visit.

“Well maintained, good viewpoint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

Traffic will be a bit of a turn off in this. It is a good place to enjoy with buddies/family. The view is pretty spectacular and the complete town if ooty is visible.

“Good view of Ooty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

Entry costs u just Rs 5 per person.Cameras cost Rs10 but people don't always pay for it coz everyone takes pictures on mobile cameras too.
For good pictures,it's better to be there between 10am-3pm when the sun is shining brightly.A clear day will give you a good view of the landscape & better shots for sure.
Make sure you carry gloves, head covers( like mufflers/woolen caps) along with jackets/sweaters & an umbrella. You are better off being over-prepared than under-prepared!!You never know when the weather can play hide n seek.

I found the trip to the peak worth it bcoz of the Circuit bus that cost Rs90 for a day & u can hop on -hop off them through the course of the day.its better than taking a taxi or even an auto( an auto charges 300/- for just drop to the peak). The bus drivers are careful & you can take the front row Left hand side seats for a view of the upward ascent.
They cover 7 spots & run from 9-7pm. Botanical Gardens,Rose Garden,Boat House,Children's Park,Doddabetta Peak,Tea Museum,Central Bus Stand are the 7 pick up & drop points. The buses are clearly marked in English as Circuit bus with each of these points clearly mentioned.

“Nice views, but busy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

Great Panaromic views from the highest peak in South India. Go early to avoid the crowds. Lots of Indian tourists head to this spot. Road up is awfully rough.

“Fell Of Standing On the Helm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Standing at the highest point on the Range was a special feeling that needs to be experienced. The observatory was very much crowded. En-rout the point from the car parking, the movement of tourists need to be regulated. Vendors selling chats and other masala items was good in taste.
