“A cullinary treat hidden in the mountains...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

Thanks to TripAdvisor, we searched and visited this place...Earl's Secret is a restaurant attached to the King's Cliff hotel at Havelock Road, Ooty.
We visited Earl's Secret two times...one for breakfast and one for dinner....awesome food, lipsmacking dishes, and good serving quantities. As in most restaurants in hills, they too take thier sweet amount of time, but worth the wait. For breakfast we had omelettes, bread toast, upma and sambar (you could go on drinking that sambar for long times...wow)...aloo parathas with curd and finished it with coffee.
And then the dinner...what a cosy ambience...you would feel like you are in Scotland...live music, fireplaces, cosy surroundings , classy wood work everywhere...and then the food...we ordered for chicken steak, pasta alfredo for kids, garlic naan and dal makhani....all the dishes were perfectly done...excellent. And then the dessert...Earl's Secret brownie...I dont have words for it....Many say they would only go back to the place just for that...I agree 200%. Do not leave that place without tasting it.
If you are in Ooty, you must eat at the Earl's Secret !

At earls secret it was amazing food and services offered.. The ambiance of the restaurant was very good and the bungalow restaurant and the the food made us not to let go out of the place. The service was fantastic and very well looked after.

Kudos to chef's and Restaurant team..

“Overhyped”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We went to Earls secret after reading the trip advisor reviews and were highly disappointed on many fronts.

Pros: Great location, Nice view of the city, Restaurant architecture is excellent, nice landscaping, good ambience

Cons: The service was poor, and the food was average to poor.
It certainly is the place in Ooty if you are looking for continental, European style cuisine, but if you're not too insistent on this cuisine, no point coming here. The lamb steak was terrible and the baked aubergine was just average.

The lowest point was , that at the end of the meal we filled in a feedback in which we clearly expressed our disappointment with the food - The maître de read it right in front of us and just ignored / shyed away from facing us.

And please lets not forget - The place is really expensive ! Felt like a waste of money.

“WOW!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Best restaurant we have been during the days in Ooty. The food was amazing from the starters to the desserts. I would like to also comment about the service which was probably the best one I have ever had in Ooty. We were a group of 10 person and we all had a great time. Will come back for more.
Try their Earls Secret Brownie.
