““Worst Hotel in ooty?””
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

I have booked the room for 2 days there, but after reaching ooty with my family all along from Bangalore, Mr. Ravi the hotel owner refused to give room for 2 days instead of 1 day, because he wanted extra money since it was season, when we request for the room since there where no rooms available in entire ooty, he behaved like a rowdy, he along with his 3 gundas misbehaved with our family members, even they are not ready to cancel the bookings, then we left this hotel, and we Rome along the whole ooty to get a room, the whole day we didn’t get room at last we got a room. We were so frustrated all my family members wanted to go back because of this Maruti Cottage experience. This is one of the worst experience my life please don’t go to this cottage, they are all cheaters, rowdies, Mr Ravi being the hotel owner don’t know how to behave professionally, he behave like a rowdy

Though the Cottages are not of high quality, it is quite reasonable and can be chosen as a second option. Ooty is such a place where you will be enjoying the beautiful Scenic places which makes you forget everything else!

After read reviews at TripAdvisor i booked this cottage for 2 days. After arriving they give us a room for freshen up. That room was awesome and warm. But after that they alloted a room at ground floor. That room Room was not very dirty, but was too old. Cupboard was smelly. No Hot water at Night. Only one pipe for hot water. You have to was hand with cold water at basin. Room was too cold and full of moist. Bed was not good. I took a double occupancy room which was at Ground floor. However their first floor rooms was very good. Room service was very slow. RAT was there inside room, who eat all of our homemade chocolates. Location is ok, nearby charring cross (Behind Cafe Coffee Day). Area is very peaceful. Sleep quality was average. I booked and paid through MakeMyTrip but they denied that i have paid the money while i am checking out. At last i called MakeMyTrip customer care and confirmed that i have already paid the money. However reception guys were helpful. Just because of the room quality i am giving it poor rating.

Room Tip: Don't go for rooms at Ground floor. Those rooms are very old and smelly. Even RAT will trouble a...

We were looking for a good cottage in Ooty and came across Maruti cottage with decent reviews. So went ahead and booked it, We arrived in Ooty at around 9:30 itself, where in our checkin time was 12 noon. The reception was courteous, gave us a rest room to freshen up and advised some good hotel for break fast. By the time we cam back from breakfast, our room was ready.

The best thing about their cottage is easy accessibility, around 60rs in auto from bus stand. Also lot of dining options avilable near the cottage, even though they not having one. Rose garden, Botonical garden are 15 to 20 min walk from this palace.

Their cottage is more like a serviced apartment, with 1 bed and 2 bed. So you will have ample space with a dining, kitchen, living room along with your bed room.

The flooring is mosaic, so if you are going in season it is cool and pleasant, but in off season it might get very cold, just an info for people booking.

The service was very good, price very reasonable, I would reccomend this place.

If you wish to stay in Ooty or a few nights, I recommend you stay at the Maruthi Cottages. I stayed there for one night and one day with a group of friends, five of us in total, we wanted to get outside Coimbatore city for some peace and relaxation. We drove up in a small car for about 3 hours from Coimbatore. The location is easy to find, the view is above average, the ambience is peaceful at night, however the next day it's a little busy outside, but a sacrifice I would take for the great location. From the hotel you can take a walk to some nearby shops for some breakfast or some general supplies. Hot water is available, outside catering facilities are available (veg and non-veg). We had Indian and Chinese food, It was good quality and quantity. They provided room service of ordering the food by providing us a menu and delivering the food to out rooms with separate plates, glasses and cutlery. the next day we ordered tea from the phone and we received it within 5-10 minutes. The sun was right on the balcony with a lovely breeze in the afternoon. I am currently writing my review on that balcony. We were given excellent service by Mr. Santosh. Tip well, they deserve it. We paid 2500 + tax for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom + kitchen + dining room, (room 301) well worth it.
Note that this hotel is not luxury,
it's a convenient, economical, simple and comfortable place to stay with a few friends or family for a few days to enjoy the sites and sounds of Ooty or just to relax.

So from the moment we arrived I knew this stay was going to be special... The water feature in our bathroom was the first clue. That being a busted toilet pipe that they had just tied a rag around rather than fixing so that for three days we got to listen to the drip, drip, drip..
The next one was the discover that despite all the rooms are fitted with showers, they dont actually work... There's a tap though and hot water so bucket baths are possible..
But really the highlight for me would be the giant rat that moved in with us on the last night and kept me fearfully awake lest it try to chew my feet off. I'm sure the staff would have been helpful if we could get past the language barrier.
Saying all of this, the location was really good, and it was very cheap. I however, will be shelling out the extra cash for somewhere next time I go to ooty.
