“Beautiful view and Excellent Service !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

I stayed at Destiny Farmstay for 2 nights with my wife. This place is a bit away from city and takes around an hour to reach. Destiny travel desk can arrange pickup and drop from ooty at an extra cost.
It is a must visit place if you plan to just relax for couple of days instead of roaming around sight seeing places or if you wish to indulge in some adventurous activities.

Right from the time we got off at destiny parking to time we left the destiny parking we were felt welcomed at the place. The staff is highly polite. Full points to staff training.

The view of the mountains is excellent and food is amazingly good. It is a bit expensive but completely worth for an awesome stay.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms have a glass enclosed balcony and fireplaces whereas regular rooms have an open air bal...

I have stayed here from 26th - 28th Jan 2013, and i found it to be one of the best places in india. One can feel the fresh air, the beautiful scenery of the emerald lake surrounded by mountains and your heart will be filled with joy and peace. The best part is there wont be any TV, internet and your mobile does'nt work here and wow..itz a perfect getaway from the hurried city life. I simply loved it. The staff here are so well trained and makes u feel at home. There are so many outdoor activities includes trek, fishing, valley crossing, farming, horse riding, monkey crawling and many more if you wish to. we have chosen a 2 1/2 hr country side horse ride , which was again a best experience. The chilled weather and a campfire in the evening with some good music leaves you relaxed. The food here is very tasty. If someone wishes to enjoy a perfect holiday, with nature at its best and wants the real joy peace and happiness inside, go for it guys,,Itz your DESTINY, the farmstay..

P.S: The only concern here is the approach road from the parking lot, which is quite bumpy and
i request you to do something abt it coz we wish to bring our parents and they may not feel dat comfortable in the truck.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sparing your valuable time and posting a great review of Destiny The Farm Stay Resort on Trip Advisor.
We do appreciate hearing from our guests as their comments are vital for us to continue in improving our services.
With Regard to your note of the truck ride being bumpy to the resort which is also part of the Farm-stay experience,Please note: we also have an alternative choice of a 4X4 Jeep which is smoother that can be used at an extra charge.
We are happy to note that the services rendered by our team were to your satisfaction. We look forward to your continued visits and take this opportunity to assure you of our best attention and services at all times

The location of the resort is very scenic and beautiful. It is the perfect place if you want to just , sit back , enjoy the might mountains , go for small walks and be away from the rest of the world.

The ride to get to this property is slightly bumpy, however it is bearable. The rooms are decent and clean. The food is average. The staff is really friendly and helpful.

The free activities include a morning/evening walk, horse riding (which is more like horse walking as they do not allow you to ride freely and alone and have a guide holding the reins and walking with you), bonfire.

Do not forget to to carry your shoes, so that you can enjoy the walks. Also carry a sweatshirt as it can get chilly in the evenings.

Over all it is a beautiful location, perfect to relax and just be.

The location is absolutely brilliant. The perfect place if you are looking for peace and tranquillity . You can go on your own or with your family around the lake near the property, and there wont be a soul around for a distance.

Points to be noted .

> Nice location, with very good scenic view
> Courteous and helpful staff especially Arpan and Aditi .
> Property is well maintained though there is room for improvement
> Farm, with horses, sheep, cows etc.
> Free activities includes small trek , horse ride and other activities
> Nice barbeque
> Good spacious room

> Not suitable for elders with heart problems as the road to destiny is a bit too bumpy .
> The Drain in the shower room gets clogged at times .
> Need more experienced staff in the Spa

we stayed in destiny farm stay on 21st and 22nd sept.it was a fantastic experience--right from parking lot where we shifted to a army truck. the ride is something to remember.i am sure it is a adventure in itself.we were greeted well at parking lot and then arrived at resort. weather , views from resort was amazing.offcourse it is situated in a remote place and you will not have all the amenities you may have in a city hotel.rooms were good . it is a totally different experience .i am sure i would like to go again with my family.the areas of improvement would be housekeeping , food quality and the checkout process--it took long to checkout.why i mentioned the food is because the same group has a wonderful restaurant in OOTY where they serve amazing lamb roast and other continental dishes.so why cant the food at destiny be of the same standard

I stayed in this place during 29th December 2012 through to 31 December 2012. The place is around an hour away from Ooty city.

We were booked in a Luxury room. The extra bed surcharge for new year package was Rs. 5500+ for two days which is really steep. Another confusion was that when they confirmed the reservation, the confirmation is not sent in the form of a proper invoice. The confirmation contained following bit.

New Year Package - Destiny
Package costs
Luxury Room: Rs.19975/-

This led me to believe that the amount mentioned is for the package, when we checked out, we were told that the amount is per day which was disappointing since it was just not worth it and if it was clearly stated, I would never have gone there.

Right from the arrival one gets the feeling that the place is setup to rip off people. They claim that they have army trucks which is the start of adventure, the fact is that the suspension of these trucks is completely busted and they don't want to spend the money to fix it. They carry their supplies like Milk in same trucks along with their guests.

The food is extremely expensive in the place, one vegetarian dinner costed almost Rs. 1800 which is almost a five star price.

They do have many activities which kids may enjoy. Though game room is a pity. Table tennis table is broken, fooseball is in a bad shape.

The food is not up to par, nothing tastes like what it should.

One of the perks of Luxury room is to have a fire place which is supposed to be lit every night at 7pm, for the three nights that we stayed, we kept on calling room service and they never showed up to light the fire place.
The shower area drain was clogged, so a shower would result in whole bathroom being flooded and they could not fix it.
The property has a semi-open drain running from top of the hill to bottom and it stinks. Most of the activities are setup below the hill so one has to go up and down in severe stench.

The resort organised activities as part of new year celebration which included stuff like spoon race, treasure hunt. All the kids were promised a prize for the winning team and at the end the prize as a cabbage and bunch of herbs. Of course the kids were not amused.

The bon-fire on new year eve had drinks and barbeque where a single grill was being used for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Something which is totally unacceptable in any place in India.

The brochure says that if request a day in advance they will arrange for shuttle truck at any time, we requested a truck to be made available at 6:30am, since we wanted to leave early. We all got ready and when we asked for the truck, without any appologies, we were told that it will come only at 7:15am, it actually came at 7:45am and we could leave their parking only at 8:00am.

All in all, it was not an experience that me or my family liked. For almost Rs. 60,000 that we ended up paying them, we could have gone anywhere else and enjoyed it more.

Room Tip: Don't just go there, Ooty has many properties which are way better then this place at probably a...

Thank you for your review on Destiny, Nilgiris! Let me assure you that we take guest feedback very seriously and certainly make necessary changes and improvements based on the same. We have gone through, analyzed and discussed the same with various concerned departments for their views on your points.
1) We were glad to hear that you appreciated the adventure activities and kids games. We have taken your point on the games room and we will definitely take positive steps on the same.
2) With regard to the Tariff and package being expensive .The world over Hotels & Resorts do charge an additional surcharge on special days and events like the New year for which we have also followed the same trend.
3) In regard to your statement that you were not informed about the package /tariff, the Reservation department did specifically brief you over the phone and also sent you a blocking mail mentioning all points in detail and clearly stated that the New year package / Tariff of Rs 19975/- was per person for two nights and three days inclusive of all the meals and the New year Gala Party.
We think it is unfair that you have posted on this review only a part of the mail sent to you and if you had posted the whole mail it would have been very clear . In fact you have responded to our request for an advance by crediting our account with Rs 30000 and that itself will show that you were well aware of the package costs.
4) We have an entire team dedicated to maintenance and really apologize for the faults noticed in the shower. Our team has a very quick response time and we are sure that if it had been brought to our notice the problem would have been rectified immediately.
5) With regard to your comments on the BBQ , it has two separate chambers for which each chamber is divided for Veg and non- veg respectively. Being in the outdoors at night with limited light, you might have assumed that it is one unit.
6)
The entire resort is run to retain the farming authenticity and we have built the resort around the farm and not vice versa.Being situated in a remote area along- side a farm and animals which is why Destiny is best known as a farm stay, the resort does have certain qualities which are unique from regular resorts. We need to keep in mind all factors of running a dairy farm, agriculture ,animals and most of our valuable guests who come to be part of the farm stay love the experience which includes the bad road in 4 wheel drive trucks / moving of fresh farm and country produce / etc .
We are unhappy that you did not appreciate the farm stay experience. While we have heard extremely positive comments on our farm stay , We understand that individual choices differ and our endeavor has always been to try and get everyone to enjoy their stay at the resort
We once again apologize for the inconvenience caused to you .However your comments are well taken and it is will be our endeavor to resolve the flaws mentioned.
