“Isolated Paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Well . . this property is definitely isolated from rest of the Ooty. And it's definitely a paradise just for the proximity to nature & good vegetation.

Well appointed rooms & facilities inside the room. We took the block away from the main building which has the best view and also a huge open terrace.

Excellent food - thanks to the Chef. every dish is so loveley; not to forget their soft rotis. If in bulk, you also get to decide the menu to suit your crowd. So, they score well on the service aspects as-well.

When it comes to activities, lots of outdoor events including trek to the forest and horse ride within the farm. But No TV. So if you have kids who would like to spend equal amount of time indoors as-well, then carry your laptops & other electronic gadgets.

Mobile phone signals are not available that easily in all parts of the property except for BSNL.

You wake up to the sound of lots of birds and also hear occassional Nilgiri Langur & alarm calls of deer from the forest nearby. and not to forget the wild boar innestigating the property in the middle of the night. The property is in the middle of couple of dams and massive forest cover. So, if you love nature, this is the best destination around Ooty.

Room Tip: The block away form the reception building has a big terrace & a breathtaking view of the lake i...

This charming farm resort in the nilgiri hills is a unique place no doubt, and it's very different from your average resort.
Well made and well maintained, the rooms are spacious and the luxury room we stayed in consisted of a fire place as well, which is much needed in the cold weather. The restaurant serves brilliant north and south indian cuisine, in particular i must mention the dal makhani, khichdi and the idli sambhar which were memorable. The chinese is bad and must be avoided, and italian wasnt great either.
The staff is extremely courteous and friendly. As for the place, it is very beautiful and you have a host of things to do which will keep you occupied. This includes relaxation and adventure too.
But as i mentioned it's not for everybody as it has its own drawbacks, the biggest being - NO ALCOHOL.
Also there is no TV access and the nearest city ooty is almost an hour away, so you are restricted to within the resort mostly.
But having said that it's not difficult to spend a couple of days here if you are in a mood to relax.
We had a problem with noisy neighbours - a group of bachelors, so if you are not in the noisy mood, please check with the booking to give you rooms next to some couples so that your holiday isnt ruined.

Room Tip: The rooms in the old block seemed much better and quiter. Luxury rooms are large and spacious and ha...

Tucked away in a pristine, untouched valley of Avalanchi this is the best property from Little Earth group in ooty. Chose to stay here after seeing brilliant feedbacks from travelers in Tripadvisor.

This property is situated on south west side of ooty and it's a good hour and half drive from ooty town (~25 km).

Route:
From ooty town keep driving towards Avalanchi dam, on the way you will find Good Shepherd school. After the school keep looking for a deviation towards your right for emerald dam. Take the right turn and after a while you will see sign board for Destiny.

You can drive only till Destiny's parking area unless you have a 4x4 vehicle. From there an adventurous ride begins on a 4x4 army truck to the farmstay. Upon reaching there you will be greeted by a very friendly and courteous staff.

All rooms have the same view but varies in size. A morning trek to one of their property (Sundance), horse riding, fishing and bonfire with barbeque is included in the tariff.

Restaurant serves all kind of cuisine and food is brilliant. They have few other activities like artificial rock climbing, rappelling, jhumaring, valley crossing with an extra cost.

Go to this place to experience the enchanting beauty of nilgiris hills and its worth the money spend. This is a must visit place if you are at ooty.

My wife and I stayed at Destiny for 3 days and 2 nights, and simply put, it was one of the most wonderful experiences we've ever had. The resort is situated in what is undoubtedly among the most scenic locations in South India - the views were simply breathtaking. What makes Destiny very special is the fact that nearly every room affords a beautiful view.

If you're considering a holiday in the Nilgiris, then Destiny is by far the best option - it's even more scenic than towns like Ooty or Coonoor, and it's far from their madding crowds as well. If you like driving, you'll surely enjoy the winding, twisting B-roads to get to Destiny. When we visited, the roads were in good nick, except for the last few kilometres which were completely unpaved. Light traffic on a weekday morning, drizzly weather, and great views made the drive great fun.

We arrived at the resort by 1pm on a Tuesday, and from the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff. The car parking is some distance away from the resort, and the drive up the hill in a military truck is something of an experience by itself. Lunch was ready for us right away as we reached the restaurant, and we were honestly too absorbed in the scenic vistas we had from our table to pay much attention to the food.

All the meals we had throughout our stay, were quite good (be advised, we only tried the vegetarian fare) and particularly impressive was the extent to which the kitchen was able to customise dishes to meet our special requests. In most restaurants, there's hardly any difference between the standard dish and the one that is supposedly tweaked to your preference.

The resort is set on a huge property, and there's lots to do if you so choose. Zip lining, horse riding, and a host of other activities can keep people of all ages busy. But we mostly spent our time taking walks in the quiet surroundings, exploring the hills. The short one-hour trek down to the dam was amazing, especially as there was absolutely nobody else down at the water, and we were rewarded with spectacular views from the top of the hill, on our way down.

For us, the best part of the experience (other than the location's natural beauty) was the hospitality of the staff. From the people at the reception desk, to the folks at the restaurant and the hospitality managers, absolutely everyone expressed genuine warmth and friendliness - the kind of hospitality you don't find even at the n star hotels, where the staff often give you the sense that they're just doing a job.

Perhaps what makes Destiny so appealing is that it's one of those charming places where, overall, the stay is even greater than the sum of individual aspects that make the experience.

Room Tip: In cold weather, the rooms with enclosed (rather than open) balconies may be more preferable, to enj...

July 04, 2012 was my second trip to destiny and I enjoyed it as much as I had enjoyed in June 2011. I seldom get overjoyed or too crazy about places, but this place is just amazing. The name of the resort, location, (hospitality)*2, cleanliness, rooms, food, etiquette, admin, front office, service, room boys, waiters and ....... I can just go on and on, everything is so perfect and good. I have recommended this place to all my relatives and friends so far and I would do that to everybody if asked.
Wanting to go again asap.

Hi,

We stayed for 2N/3D at the Destiny Farmstay and true to its name its a very nice farmstay..

For those who just want a quick summary here it is, else the other can read on for details..

Summary:
Good things: Impeccable Service, Safe, Completely in the middle of nature and greenery, Lots of activities to keep you entertained, Good food, Clean place.
What to expect? - God forsaken place - no access to city easily, Dependent on the resort for anything and everything, Minimum sight-seeing so kinda stuck to the resort but can do so easily. No TV in the rooms, so TV addicts, this is not the place for you

Since the devil is in the detail, let me take time and make this elaborate:

Pre-booking: Pretty much hassle free.. got the booking done through an agent and it was a breeze.. received the confirmation and we were ready to go..

Arrivals: The resort had given directions to drive.. We took the Theppakadu-Masinagudi-Kalhatty Ghat-Ooty route and then followed the directions which the resort had given. The drive through the ghats is very pleasant.. absolutely no hassle and my Esteem of 5 yrs went by without any concern whatsoever. As per other reviews and fellow trip advisor users' comments the last part of the journey (about 1-2KM) is not good - as in the roads are bad, so driving would be fairly slow. We saw board no. 1 saying Destiny on the right and then after about a few mins drive we saw another board which led us to the parking lot. It looked secure as there was a security guard and another couple of staff members who welcomed us. Then the Army truck (but operated by the resort people only) came and took us to the main resort. Now this ride was super bumpy despite the army van, so I can't imagine any normal vehicle going through on that stretch of road. Its about a 20 Minute ride and once we reach the resort we were given warm green tea as we completed the arrival formalities..

Location: The location of the resort is quite remote. There are only fields, hills and tea plantations when you look around the place and the few constructions you see nearby are the resort's own properties like a stable, cowshed, spa bldg etc. Please note that if one plans to do sight-seeing in Ooty/Cunoor then one should not really stay at this place as its about 1-1.5 hrs away from the main city of Ooty and since you are dependent on the van for movement from the resort, one may just think of not going through all the hassle after all, so just keep that in mind that you will be more or less confined to the resort's premises for the duration of the stay.

Stay: We stayed in the Luxury room and i was told that the room size is what is different. We had a fireplace in the room and that helps as there is no heater in the room. The bedding/mattresses and all other amenities in the room are very comfortable and clean. The big part here is there is no Television, but spending time is not a problem actually..

Activities: They have a spa which has various massages and starts from around Rs. 500 and goes on till Rs. 2500 - Pity we could not use the services as we didn't get any appointments, so can't quite comment on the services..so its advisable that one plans the spa as soon as you arrive. Having no TV in the room is not such a big deterrent after all.. its ok as there are other things to be done.. Since we arrived almost by evening on Day 1 we just chilled out and took a walk and saw the cowshed and the stable and asked questions with the caretakers there. The next day after the breakfast we did an activity called Zip Line where one person moved from one end to another on a rope.. its good fun - not scary and not any stressful. There was also fishing which we did and my wife successfully did rock climbing - All of these within the property itself. There is a small golf putting place but its not maintained, so that's not advisable..They also have a trek in the mornings which is really a walk in the woods and through the muddy road and its fun.. Vishal, the guide made the walk fun.. The short 1 hr trek is complimentary whereas the longer 3 hr version is the paid one. There is also a horse ride which the resort provides. Small horse ride is complimentary and the longer version is paid. And needless to say there are a couple of indoor activities like table tennis, carrom etc.and in the evening there is a room which gets converted into a disc with a staff member playing the role of a DJ, so all in all lotsa stuff for easily a day and a half of fun without really venturing out. There is a lot of vegetation and a pond where there are ducks, so one can just admire the wonderful creatures and nature as well.

Restaurant/Food: Since this place is just not connected to anything nearby you are dependent on what they serve at their restaurant, but surely this does not make the restaurant complacent or the place arrogant.. the food is very very nice..prices are a bit on the higher side, but assuming that the procurement and transportation costs might be higher, its ok. But what stands out really are the staff and the service. They are just smiling at you all the time and that is such a nice feeling. Full marks for service and hope they keep it up! The complimentary buffet breakfast is quite impressive too, but many items were Potato based on day 1, but we were not surprised as the next day we saw a lot of potatoes in the field, hence the popularity. They had a good spread having Non-Veg, Egg, South Indian, Cereals, Baked Beans etc.and the items were not 100% different on Day 2 but if one prefers to eat South Indian on Day 1 then he/she can have other stuff on day 2 - The Lunches and Dinners are ala carte unless one is taking an all-inclusive package. The menu card boasts of Continental, Chinese and Indian cuisines and has a good spread of the commonly available items in most restaurants in any large city in India.

Aah, i guess that's good enough a review as of now.. Hope this helps and hope you like it!

We stayed here during Feb 2012 and can say that till date, our best vacation time, the first thing that caught us was their website and approach. That our 4 year old daughter was completely engaged with farms, pet animals, horse rides, indoor/outdoor games and should mention about their picnic by lake and fishing, those were extraordinary experiences that we will not get very often. All these activities are part of the room rent of around 4k inc breakfast and quality of the food was quite good too. Please note to carry all that you need, as there are no shops close to the resort. Camp by night BBQ was also good. I think having no TV on rooms was a blessing and so we were able to have good family time. Over all, BEST Value for money, BEST Customer Service and this place serves all purposes like...Honeymoon, Friends GTG, Family Time and so on...
