Worth for the rate, Privacy is there. But hot water is a great problem. They should work to improve their asset in better way then it is awesome. Nice view to the main station, and near to bus stand

Me and my wife spent 4 nights in Ooty as part of our two-month South Indian trip.
We found this hotel by chance, just a short walk from the bus station. The location is very nice, a white large 1-story bungalow, overlooking most of Ooty and the racecourse, insulated from noise but close to the centre. Green grass around and some huge trees.
We negotiated our stay and got the price down to 2000 Rs per night for a double room. A lot over our initial budget, but we liked the place. The rom was impressive. Clean, large, tall, huge double bed, restored furniture that goes really well with the style of the house. It just had a very nice atmosphere (the entrance was on the side, so it felt like we had our own yard). Bathroom was clean and large.
Breakfast was good (omelettes, toast, butter, jam, masala tea), staff was friendly.
I think this hotel has been recently restored, because we visited most of the rooms before we chose ours, and some of the pictures here are outdated.
Aside from a little misunderstanding about the complimentary breakfast (in the end it was fine, but check if it is indeed complimentary after negotiating), we had a really nice stay in cool, clean, quiet Ooty.

Room Tip: The rooms on the side have their own entrance right from the yard, it feels like you have a private...

Simple things make staying away from home pleasurable.

Privacy; For instance, it would have been nice if Philip the Manager didn't patrol around our verandah every ten minutes;

Enough towels, toilet paper, soap; For instance, it would have been nice if Suresh just used some initiative and bought one roll of toilet paper at the nearby shop for 50 cents. His solution of arguing for three hours in increasingly inane episodes was childish. It also left us with a bad first impression;

If you say Bed & Breakfast, then do just that.

Hospitality: Care about your guests comfort; For instance, it would have been nice if Philip or Suresh made an effort. Both of them have no idea about hospitality.

Somewhere to put your feet up; For instance, it would have been nice if the room had chairs and tables on its verandahs. We had breakfast on the bare floor. Did I mention that it is USD60 per night?

It is one thing that Mount View charges triple what it says in the guidebooks, it is another that it cannot get simple hospitality right.

My suggestion: Get some friendly female staff and new management.

cons:
- very dirty, see picture
- they promise the have hot water on certain time, but they just lie

Stayed in this hotel and the building seems to be over a century old and some rooms are scary with the colonial style. Even the furnitures are very old and horrible.
We were freezing in this hotel. Not worth the money i paid here. Food is okay and hotwater is available only in the morning.

Bad: heater is available,but u hav to ask. the wooden floors need some polishing.
