“Good rooms, not so good service, VERY noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2010

I made the mistake of booking a king suite for myself and a friend and it turned out to be a honeymoon suite. They do not do twin beds but we were able to change to a 'family room' (2 double beds). Staff on reception were very helpful but the same cannot be said of the restaurant. They were rude and unhelpful. Not just to us as westerners... they were just as rude to Indian guests! Tables were not cleaned, plates of toast were thrust at you whether you wanted them or not (not that there was much choice...). Not a pleasant experience. The evening restaurant on the roof was a bit better for food but service still offhand. We chose this hotel to be close to the temples (15 mins walk) and we did have earplugs which you definitely need. Madurai is dirty and deafening. Oh yes and there's only hot water from 5am to 9am.

The Residency is very wel placed near the temple (10 mins walk) and the railway (5 mins walk). Although in the middle of the city it's pretty quiet. It's got a good variety of food for breakfast, and the one dinner I had, a vegetable curry, was surprisingly tasty. The only disappointment was the lack of internet access - there is small room with one computer, but not working during our 2 day stay. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient.

We booked the hotel Madurai Residency thru their website because of its location close to Meenakshi Temple. Its walking distance from the hotel. Front desk was very helpful and changed our room according to our requirement. Room was quite big and spacious but bathroom was just ok. Actually it required maintenace and change of fixtures. Elevator was broken and fan was not working which is quite bothersome in Madurai kind of weather. Best part was their complementary breakfast. So much of vareity and tasty too. We all loved it. Their terrace restaurent was also nice.
Infront of the hotel there is big garbage pile which is a big turnoff.
This was ok for nightstay for sightseeing purpose kind of trip only. No other fancy stuff.

I stayed with out Australian Client who just want to see the historic places in Tamilnadu, India. We booked this hotel through my college friend who is living in Madurai. Rooms are OK. But less amenities. You can see the view of Meenakshi temple tower from this hotel roof top restaurant. Foods are amazing.... Rich & Tasty. I recommend this hotel if you much interest in food.

Recently came to madurai for a deity worship & stayed there with my entire family.

Was quite a good experience, and was impressed by their decorum. Also, Iam a native of the same city and as there was quite a lot of guest accompanying me I chose to stay in this place quite close to my home.

The hotel room was quite spacious & interiors well organised. Loved the AC suites the lot as its hard to find AC working round the clock @ madurai city too often.

My ratings for this hotel will be a 5 Star.

Good work guys.

Pretty decent accommodation and interiors. Changing linen and overall cleaning is being done on a daily basis.

The staff are many and very cooperative.

Food is good and room service is fast. The breakfast is the ultimate. I have never seen such sumptuous and variety food delivered piping hot.

Best thing is that this hotel is right across the the railway station.

An adequate travel desk is available to plan tours.

What is not there is a gym, pool, spa, garden, etc. But for the tariff paid, this is value for money.

We stayed at this hotel for two night and three days (PREMIER DELUXE A/C ROOM). The pleasant experience gained within the short period will certainly make us to return to this hotel in the future. Best things about this hotel are:

* Clean room with excellent ventilation

* Television with major satellite channels

* Toilet was clean and sterilized, towels replaced every day

* Complimentary newspaper in the morning and evening snacks were unexpected for the price we paid

* The check-in/checkout process was swift and pleasant

* Hotel is situated at the heart of the city very close to the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and is just 12 kms away from the Madurai Airport.

*Round the clock Room Service

For the money paid(Rs Rs.1400/- + tax), we couldn't have got a deal better than this. I feel encouraged to recommend this hotel than any other star hotel that may charge you in the range of Rs.3000-Rs.4500 per night. You are sure to get better stay and service for a below-3K price at this place.
