“Quite nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Good room. Good location. The breakfast was very good. But for the price , it is actually quite average. What surprised me was that hot water was available only in the morning. It is not absolutely necessary in South India, but even hotels for around 1000 rupies have hot water for 24 hours.

DIfferent people have different views. For me, Madurai Residency was the right choice of hotel for my stay. I had chosen a twin bedded Premier Room. Sufficient if you are using this for transit. If you are looking for a room with a view, then you may have to choose a higher room category. View is not guaranteed though.

I liked the food and the service levels were just right. No complaints.

I would stay here again.

I had been to Madurai on an official trip. This hotel was booked by my travel agent. The hotel is ideally located near Railway junction, so can be accessed easily. Also near meenakshi amman temple. So ideal for pilgrimage. The room was compact enough. But you will not find "Almirah" or storage space for your luggage. The shower is bad and no hot water. Food is ok. Since Madurai is known for good food you need not depend on the restaurant. The hotel is good for a business trip.

Average hotel. Reception staff don't create a good first impression. Checking in took forever and checking out was difficult too. Paid 1,300 rupees for a fan and squat toilet room. Location was great, close to train station and Bus Station

Based on the reviews in ' Trip Advisor' I selected this hotel. Location is advantageous. railway station, Bus stand and other resturants where good stuff available are all very near. Rooms are kept clean .and maintained well. The one problem is hot water is NOT available When enquired Manager said hot water is available ONLY between 6 to 10 A.M. So when the guests come to the hotel after 10A.M. ,as I did, they cannot have hot water to bathe. Something 'unreasonable' because room rents are NOT in such a low rate. Hospitality is good. They extend this by providing mosquito-service not only in their 'Dinning hall' but also in the well-maintainted A/C/ guests- room !! Free-break fast and the stuff are really good. In the guest -room a good one-time-shaving-kit is provided. I used it and found nice. Room service is prompt .

Room Tip: Room alloted to me was in 3rd floor.Even there mosquito presence was there.

Small room; without any view. Congested location. Average food. It took us 30 mts for check in. Person at reception was multi tasking too many things including role of telephone operator. Not value for money.
