“Pretty poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

On a tour of Indian we stayed in a variety of hotels in the same price range and this was one of the worst. It advertises itself as a 'Home away from home' but I wouldn't be living here. The bed linen was grey and did not look clean. The aircon had had its plug intentionally cut off so the rooms were unbearably hot. There was no wi-fi. The TV didn't work... the later wasn't really an issue was I wouldn't have watched it but it just showed the lack of care that there was a TV in the room that was just left there and didn't work. Along with the aircon it was all fairly poor.
Wouldn't recommend.

Pls. avoid. Though the cost being reasonable, the overall experience is terrible. No pantry facilities present. Rooms are too small and not a decent type to put up with family.
Located within a busy street, which is one way.
All hotels are nearby station. Would advice, if you go out, do the search and then check~in.

Room Tip: Entry to this hotel is challenging. Almost all hotels are bang opposite station. Just walk dowen an...

A convenient place to stop for a rest if you’re travelling across Tamil Nadu between Chennai and the Western Ghats or if you’ve flown into Madurai from the north and are venturing on from there using local buses to get to the hill station of Kodaikanal as we did in March.

This is right bang in the middle of town only 5 mins walk from the huge temple (make sure you leave the laptop at home and wear long trousers and have your shoulders covered!). Rooms are affordable and are priced with/without AC. Cleanliness was typical of most budget hotels in India: nothing to write home about but can’t complain really either. Also, typical hard bed. The staff don’t really speak English but will try and help you with any information eg directions to bus station (very close for onward travel around Tamil Nadu).

At best, Pearl hotel can be termed as a good hotel when one is on Pilgrimage and focus is more in meeting God that enjoying Luxary. Pearl Hotel was offered to us as a part of the package which we booked with Surya Travels for visiting Rameshwaram and Kanya Kumari. The Hotel meets all the basic needs of a religious traveller and has nothing to offer in terms of luxaries. Rooms are considerably clean and staff is also supportive. The biggest advantage of the hotel is its proximity to Meenaxi Temple in Madurai which is the main attraction of the hotel. However, the reception staff's attitude towards new booking was very inexplicable. We wanted to book a room for one day after the completion of our package but the reception staff turned us down saying we should book only through our package partner. May be there is some setting with the package operator where he may be sharing some margin with the reception staff.

At best, good only for one night stay for transitioning passenger who wants to transition to Rameshwaram from Madurai as it is also very near to Madurai Railway Station

At 605 INR per night, it is a good budget hotel and within walking distance to the Meenakshi temple, Periyar bus stand, Anna bus stand and Madurai junction railway station.

The road is busy, and the surrounding too - there is a mosque and so at periodic intervals all hotels in the vicinity will hear the calls.
The street just behind it - West Marret street is quieter. If not on a budget you can check Madurai Residency there - the mosque noise will persist and note prices are twice that of this hotel.

I had a safe stay in Hotel Pearls, no complaints with the service. Spacious room, clean.

Room Tip: try to stay away from the lift. There is a corridor fone just outside and if you have the first room...
