Located right opposite the Sim's Park in Coonoor its ok to spend some time particularly if you have young kids along. Honeymooners, why waste your time?

“Must Visit for a Science Enthusiast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

This institute is one of the premier institutes for producing vaccines for rabies.
It was established during the British regime. It is right opposite to SIMS Park
Mind it, this is not a tourist spot.Normally , you can get inside only if you are a doctor/ accompanies a doctor. You can go into the museum where the process of vaccine development is depicted beautifully with the mini model of the actual machines used in the lab.
Entry:Restricted to Docs & Family
Entry Fee:Nil
Time:45 min
You have to go to the Chief of the institute and explain him the cause of your visit and express your enthusiasm. Then he'll grant you permission. For getting inside at the gate , you have to show your Doc ID Card to the Security.

Only meant for Doctors to visit by prior appointment. Not a tourist spot.

The only view possible is from the roadside - and its not very pretty!
