Went for a two days stay in the first week of April 2012 at this place with my family. Mr. Kumar, the manager has arranged for picking us up from Coonoor Station by an Indigo car. ( Rs. 800). The drive down to the estate was through small villages and large number of estates. We were put up in Bison Valley rooms. (Six double rooms in a row each attached with a bathroom/toilet with running hot water.)The rooms are provided with blankets, bath towels and soap.
We stayed in Room no: 6. The place was nice, quiet and in the middle of the estate. We could see the Manga Tree bunglow from this place which was uphill. Mr. Krishnan Kutty was the care taker/cook at our place. The rate of Rs 800 per day per person if three persons share a room was inclusive of all food. By the way the food in only vegetarian. But the food was superb. We could drink as much of tea as we want and whenever we want.
The place is nice, quiet and full of unspoilt pure air.You can hear and see many birds in the mornings and evenings. We could walk around where ever we want inside the estate. Mr. Kumar said he can arrange a guided trekking also if we wished. We did not opt for it.
And true to its name we could see lot of bisons walking around our accommodation in the mornings. One evening we were taken in a jeep for a drive inside the estate.
Those who want to escape from the city life and recharge themselves should visit the place once. I would recommend this place to those who want to enjoy the nature at an affordable cost.
I would ask to those interested to note the following also.
No TV in the room.
No indoor games or activity to keep your children engaged.
No news paper.
So take along some books, board games, shuttle bats and cork to keep you occupied.
If you dont have your own transport you can contact Mr. B.MURUGAN ( 09442803993) who owns a TATA SUMO and who gives a good rate for pick up and drop from the estate. He charged Rs.800 for a drop from coonoor station to the estate in his TATA SUMO which can carry 10 persons.
When we checked out we asked him to pick us up from the estate, went around coonoor to see Sims park, dolphine nose, lambs rock were dropped at mettupalayam for Rs. 2300.
We left the estate with pleasant memories and hoping to come back soon.
