5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Mewar Haveli is too many things thrown into one. Firstly its a place where almost everyone will welcome you with a smile, help you around going out of their way and make you feel pampered by allowing you many a whims and fancies. I stayed there for two days and was a lone female traveler out on my own for the first time. I was greeted with a broad smile in the wee hours of the morning by a sleepy staff member who ushered me into an extremely clean room blessed with an amazing view. Situated in the the old city the Mewar Haveli is located in a way that all major points of interest are just two minutes by walk. I picked the Deluxe room (the ones with the lake view). Right below my window was the Bagore ki Haveli museum and each day I witnessed tranquil sunrises and sunsets over the panoramic lake lying down in my bed.
If you are not looking for huge rooms then what Mewar Haveli (MW) offers should be good for you. Also the management of MW is super prompt and patient with emails and really go out of their way to help you out with you selection of rooms.
I landed at the hotel having misplaced my charger and a zillion birthday calls to attend. The guys at MW not only kept procuring the required charger every now and then I was around but also arranged for a surprise birthday cake!!! Who does that!! I was sooo overwhelmed I cannot tell you enough about it. From keeping me aware about little details to helping me around the city they were as much a family as one can find at the shortest notice. Everyplace says its a home away from home, but this place truly was. Take my word for it will you.
The restaurants are at two levels, the third floor dining hall and the roof top restaurant. The view is simply magnificent. Situated at Lal Ghat the hotel gives you a panoramic view of the lake , the ghats on the opposite side and the mountains beyond. Sitting next to the lake is nice, but sitting at an elevation next to lake is even better. This is a purely personal viewpoint but I enjoyed my meals on the rooftop restaurant more than the dinner I had at Amrai (that boasts of the dining by the lakeside experience).
MW has a reasonable internet cafe and a shop adjacent for possibly everything you might need on a holiday. The decor is not too loud and tastefully done and gives a very authentic feel to the place. The most expensive room was below Rs 2000 and so its also budget friendly with all modern amenities and amazing panoramic views. Go there if you want to be smitten about everything Udaipur...

It was a great stay at Mewar Haveli. It provides beautiful lake view from room with nicely decorated interiors. Though the rooms are small, but enough for couple. It is located in the center of city, and close to many tourist places. I liked the rooftop restaurant which has a spectacular position for watching the sun set. Overall a memorable stay!

Our stay at Mewar Haveli was great. The hotel is very charming, the owner is extremely welcoming and friendly, and we were lucky enough to get one of the lake-facing rooms. The hotel is beautifully designed with Rajasthani paintings and looks very authentic. The feeling is just indescribable. The nice roof-top restaurant was the cherry on top, which makes the hotel worth way more than it charges. Highly affordable, amazing place that beats everything else we stayed at.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake-facing room - beautiful view!

This hotel is located in The center of udaipur, close to nice little shops and restaurants. The rooms are beautifully decorated and offer a great view of the lake and water palace. The roof terrace is positively The best place in town to drink some tea and see the sunset.

Our hotel was being renovated and so were many others in the area, so we often walked to the Mewar haveli to have dinner and breakfast. A couple of the places in town suggest they are supplying fancy French and German food which is often not the case. The Mewar resturant on the top floor of this beautiful Haveli has a spectacular position for watching the sun set, whilst you lounge around on comfortable cushions soaking up the ambiance. The food was brilliant, the beers very cold and they even cut up some mangoes for us that we had bought in the market. They were friendly and accommodating. It was a shame we didn't stay here. Oh BTW they also had an elevator to the top floor which was a bonus!!

it was my second visit to Udaipur and i got this hotel location by trip advisor , thanks to my android..

i didnt have any bookings and they had rooms available fortunately.

so here's the review.

Area: Its a old city area with lot of attractions nearby although roads are very small so would advice you to keep your vehicle at one place and then travel.

Rooms : Very neat rooms with most basic facilities a nice compact lift although moving space is compromised but it is still value for money.

Bathroom : It is having a shower with hot and cold water and american style toilet which is very clean.

Safety : Hotel is very safe , the whole area is tourist friendly with lot of small hotels and shops in surrounding.

View: Rooms with view are bit costly but are still worth the price as the view is really awesome

Restaurants are with view of the lake and are bit expensive in comparison to the hotel, but quality of food is good.

Hotel staff is really friendly and there also a small store in the hotel which provides you all kind of travel guides books, cold drinks currency exchange etc.

Overall i would recommend this hotel to travelers.

If it wasnt for trip advisor i would have never explored such area and hotel, had a great time kudos to trip advisor.

Thanks

Room Tip: I would suggest you should go for rooms with full lake view , partial view is not so good.

Excellent mid range hotel with modern facilities. The owners run the hotel as they woiuld their home. It is neat, clean, modern and computer tech savvy. The hotel is purely vegetarian, but having said that, the veg food is very tasty.

I loved the size of the rooms. Not too big, not too small. But if you are one of those people who carries a lot on your trip, with big suitcases then you might find it a bit cramped.

The roof top restuarant is lovely in the morning for breakfast and for dinner in the evenings... providing some excellent views of the lake and the other side of Udaipur.

And best part is that it is walking distance from the sights!

Room Tip: The best rooms are the corner ones, which have two sets of windows so that you have 180 degree of th...
