5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

I stayed here for about 3weeks and it was a wonderful experience. With so many guesthouses in Udaipur catering towards tourist this is the most original i have found.
You will in a way be part of the family here. The rooms are nice and really cheap and the location is just in the heart of the old city with walking distance to most museums, temples and other sightseeing places.
The owner Vivek is also very friendly and can help you to find anything you are looking for. He drove me around on his bike a few times aswell when i needed to shop for some special things.
Only Vivek and his sister-inlaw(who BTW makes the best masalachai all over) speaks english but the rest of the family is pretty helpful anyway. And there is the cutest babycalf in the stable downstairs. The restaurant on the roof isnt quite ready yet but you can still hang out there and enjoy the view and sunset. All in all its very friendly and one of my more enjoyable stays in India.

Room Tip: Dont be afraid of the single rooms with shared bathroom. Depending on how many people are staying pe...

Jagat villa is a very good guesthouse. I stayed here for three nights. The room was spacious and neat. The owner vivek is a very nice person who will help you with everything. His family lives in the ground floor and they are very nice people. His mother made me a very nice dinner. This guesthouse is very good for the price. Very difficult to find anything better.

this place is great value for money, right in the heart of beautiful udaipur. The family are very welcoming and extremely helpful in advice and helping sort of taxi's eg. to the airport. While I was there they were renovating the upper half of it which I'm sure will make it even better. There's a real feeling in this place of them wanting to help you rather than constantly on the sell, which I'm sure will come as a huge relief once you've been in India a while.

Very nice family trying to improve their guesthouse. They began hosting people 3 years ago and it's already a good place to sleep. The rooms are cheaper than other guesthouses, everything is clean and if you want to be host in a humble way you should go there. It is very closed to the city center so you can eat outside at night and come back in the dark without any problem. Ask Vivek to invite you on his roof so that he will explain you how he managed to find a way to help all his family and us, tourists, in the same time !

After being rejected to Udai Havelli which is full from mostly online reservations, I was invited to look at the guesthouse by the owner. He was friendly and gave me a good price on a single room. (150 Rs low season). He is very helpful and has a shop with internet and travel arrangements with a very friendly guy working there. The room was pretty clean, seemed freshly painted. It was an excellent place to stay for the price paid :)

I stayed here for 3 nights in March and found it to be one of the best guesthouses I've stayed in in India. The rooms are clean, comfortable and good value - my rooftop room had a lovely view from outside on the terrace. It has a very good location near the palace and lake. The family who runs the guesthouse is very friendly and helpful and really make you feel welcome and part of the family. The only problem is the lack of wifi connection but with so many cafes having free wifi it's not really an issue. Enjoy your stay!
