Nothing in the world can beat this hotel. The location, Service, Food it is perfect and the best in the world. It has a heritage lineage but thanks to the service as it is run by Taj Group it is a perfect blend of both world. The best place to wake up in the morning as u r in the middle of water.

Room Tip: I think all of them are superb

Quit rightly earns its "Best hotel in India" rating. Arrival from the chaotic scenes on the shore from their own quay by private boat sets the tone. Showered with fresh rose petals on arrival - corny but lovely - and it just got better and better. Suite with every luxury and superb marble bathroom. Waters literally lapping outside bedroom window as this hotel is an island in itself, rising from Lake Pichola. Brilliant butler service from Prem - charming young man who couldn't have been more helpful, yet completely unobtrusive and seemed to second guess our needs. 3 excellent restaurants to choose from, although No 1 must be the rooftop candle and torch lit experience looking over the lake to the City Palace and the shoreline houses of old Udaipur.

Room Tip: Ask for room looking towards the City Palace and Udaipur, preferably with balcony. Particularly brea...

We have stayed in a number of nice hotels around the world But Lake TAJ Palace blows them all out of the water.

After returning to Mumbai I have just been going around suggesting to all of my friends to go to Udaipur just to stay at Taj lake palace.

Staying at TAJ LAKE PALACE is an experience in itself. We went to Lake Taj palce for our 14th wedding anniversary for the 2 days we stayed at Lake Palace we were treated like royalty. Be it the Arrival at lake palace Jetty, or the guard and everyone greeting you with joined hands and ‘‘Khammaghani’’ , The rose petal welcome and the tilak ceremony just bowls you over.
After staying in different 5 stars in and outside India, I can say this that unlike all too many other hotels that share that “destination” distinction, TAJ LAKE PALACE resists the temptation to rest on its laurels. The details are where it really shines: the Beautiful and serene Lilly pond; the fastidiously maintained artifacts & paintings in the hallways; the small spread of fruit and sweets in your room that’s replenished every day; the subtle signature scent (a hotel trend I normally deplore) of Taj and the generously sized beauty products in the room and bathroom.

The architecture shows off Mugal and Mewari culture, with tranquil surroundings, fountains and stunning lake view, TAJ LAKE PALACE represents the rich heritage of Mewar.

Where some famous hotels come with snooty attitude, Taj lake Palace staff was nothing but responsive and gracious. I felt the staffs were more focused on “caring” rather than “service. The friendly, smiling faces provided professional service at all times of the day and night

Here I would like to share a sweet incident where we returned back to hotel really late and it was bit chilly, I was wondering how I would manage the jetty ride to the hotel. The minute we boarded the jetty, the boatman very courteously offered me a freshly laundered shawl. I must say I was really impressed and touched with their gesture.

All the staff were amazingly helpful and genuinely friendly, a special mention to Ms. Rose at the breakfast room who was so attentive and took great care of the most important meal of the day.

Many glowing reviews of the hotel have already been posted here. I am no more eloquent than most of the reviews here. All I can say is that no detail was missed at TAJ LAKE PALACE.

My visit was nearly 4 years ago. If miniature paintings have fascinated you, be prepared to get more of it – you can actually learn to paint them yourself at Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur. For a person who relishes Rajasthani cuisine, I pigged out on dishes like ker sangri, dal batti churma, undhiyo and more from Rajasthani Thali at their Indian restaurant.
Heritage walk of the Palace provides insights into royal lifestyle of yore. The rooms are luxurious with different embellishments and artefacts.

As you likely already know if you've made it this far, this hotel played a starring role in Octopussy. It's the breathtaking hotel sitting in the middle of the lake. Just there. In the lake. It seems to be there as if by magic.

And basically it is magical.

This hotel is perfect. The architecture is all authentic and makes you feel like a maharaja. From the moment you step on to the boat launch to be shepherded up to the dock at the Lake Palace, there is nothing I would have improved about the place. The rooms are lovely and well decorated, the beds are comfortable, the food is amazing and the service is second to none. Admittedly it's not cheap, so I guess you could change that, but if you make it as far as Udaipur I highly HIGHLY recommend this as a once in a lifetime experience.

Beyond the price, the only other thing to note about the hotel is the doves. They have hundreds of them that live on and around the building. At sunrise and sunset you can hear them swooping out/in and cooing. While I imagine that could be somewhat gross, the hotel provides a "dove scarer away-er" because... well, I'm sure the maharajas had them too.

Oh - and, amusingly, they have Octopussy on loop in all the rooms. It's not the ONLY channel but, let's face, it's the only one you should be watching if you're watching TV there at all.

My fiancé and I stayed 2 nights at Taj Lake Palace. We flew in from New Delhi arrived Udaipur pretty early and checked in at noon. The arrival experience at the Jetty was very welcoming. The private jetty for Lake Palace guests is remarkable. It has a nice rest area, and the boats tag always available for transfer to the lake palace. Everyone is so courteous and trying to providing best service possible. Check in was done at the jetty and in no time we were transferred to the hotel. On arrival we we greeted with rose petals showered down as we get off the boat and walk to wards the entrance. We were indeed treated as royals. Check in was super speed and the staff were very welcoming. Rahul the GM made sure everything was perfect and made us very comfortable. Great news when we learnt we were upgraded to a suite, best news and I just it better. The room was decorated with rose and yellow flowers arranged from the door to the living room. The brought us a cake and sweets for us. So touched by Taj's hospitality and service.
We were given a full brief of the room and the amenities including a walk around the hotel.
We ordered room service and they were fast and efficient. In the evening we had a private boat ride, and we took lots of pictures, the boat man was so patient with us although we had to extgnua few minutes.
In the evening, we had dinner at the hotel, indian food of course, enjoyed the service and hospitality.
Next day we went for a day tour and some shopping. Transfer both ways were excellent. No time is lost... Breakfast experience was outstanding. The staff takes a lot of initiative and remembers what we liked and ordered them for us the next day. Awesome!!!!.
We really enjoyed Taj Lake Palace. It has a very deep impression for us and we hope to visit again. It's truly a paradise..in every sense of the word. I would like to thank the team at Lake Palace of taking care of us so well. I must say that in the 10 days we were in India, Taj Lake Palace experience was the best, nothing came close.

We stayed at all the Taj Hotels(some former Palaces) in Rajasthan and were amazed by the grandeur and slender of these hotels, such extreme luxury, that we felt like kings and queens ourselves.
We were greeted in style and the service throughout the hotel was fantastic, much more than you can ever imagine - at the reception, at the restaurants, at the bar, spa etc etc.
We highly recommend this and other Taj Hotels (Palaces) throughout Rajasthan, India.
