We had a perfectly organized holiday at the Leela Palace for our three generations of family members. Since we have stayed at the Udaivilas earlier, some comparisons are natural.
The quality of service, property grounds, rooms and its facilities were excellent. Right from our transfers from the airport in BMWs, boat ride across the lake and welcome at the resort to the smooth check-in, we were treated like royalty.
The rooms (Heritage with balcony) were very well-appointed, spacious and had a wonderful view of the lake, Jagmandir and the City palace (compared to our stay at Udaivilas where we did not have much of a view). The most raved about feature of the room was the balcony, luxurious bathroom and the convenience of positioning the flat tv to any viewing angle. Each of our rooms had personal 'Butlers' to take care of logistical needs.
The property is quite new (compared to the Udaivilas) and looks more contemporary. There are plenty of spots along the lake for one to sit and reminiscence, while the whole resort has plenty of photo ops. We enjoyed the large pool and the spa (lovely tented rooms). Simple things like a thoughtful gesture of getting us cranberry mocktail at the pool was appreciated. The resort organizes entertainment in the evenings with ethnic dances and songs, which everyone in our family enjoyed. Since the area is enclosed, it would be good if the resort can organize some pedestal fans on warm evenings. The meals (part of our package) we ate at the restaurant were very nice - buffet breakfast and a-la-carte at lunch and dinner. Good options, well prepared but a bit slow on service (maybe due to multiple guest requests?), though we found the enthusiasm and response of the staff serving us commendable.
We are told that those who visit Udaipur once always return as the water of the lake beckons... It's been true for us before and we shall return again...
Our complements to Cedric, Amit, staff at the 'Dining Room'.
