“A Royal treat at the luxury resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We had a perfectly organized holiday at the Leela Palace for our three generations of family members. Since we have stayed at the Udaivilas earlier, some comparisons are natural.
The quality of service, property grounds, rooms and its facilities were excellent. Right from our transfers from the airport in BMWs, boat ride across the lake and welcome at the resort to the smooth check-in, we were treated like royalty.
The rooms (Heritage with balcony) were very well-appointed, spacious and had a wonderful view of the lake, Jagmandir and the City palace (compared to our stay at Udaivilas where we did not have much of a view). The most raved about feature of the room was the balcony, luxurious bathroom and the convenience of positioning the flat tv to any viewing angle. Each of our rooms had personal 'Butlers' to take care of logistical needs.
The property is quite new (compared to the Udaivilas) and looks more contemporary. There are plenty of spots along the lake for one to sit and reminiscence, while the whole resort has plenty of photo ops. We enjoyed the large pool and the spa (lovely tented rooms). Simple things like a thoughtful gesture of getting us cranberry mocktail at the pool was appreciated. The resort organizes entertainment in the evenings with ethnic dances and songs, which everyone in our family enjoyed. Since the area is enclosed, it would be good if the resort can organize some pedestal fans on warm evenings. The meals (part of our package) we ate at the restaurant were very nice - buffet breakfast and a-la-carte at lunch and dinner. Good options, well prepared but a bit slow on service (maybe due to multiple guest requests?), though we found the enthusiasm and response of the staff serving us commendable.
We are told that those who visit Udaipur once always return as the water of the lake beckons... It's been true for us before and we shall return again...
Our complements to Cedric, Amit, staff at the 'Dining Room'.

Room Tip: Heritage lake view with balcony...

Leela Udaipur is one of the finest hotels/resorts that we have been to. The campus is great, it is much more reasonably priced relative to the two competitors - Udaivilas and Lake palace, and yet I cannot think of one thing that they could have done better to make the place look more beautiful.

Lets start with the pros:
1. View - View is breathtaking, think all the rooms overlook the lake. We took a heritage view with balcony room which is probably the highest end in the room category. The first room that we were given saw the heritage, but did not offer a fine view of the lake. We asked for a change and the new room did provide us with a splendid view of the lake along with of the city palace. The city palace looks gorgeous in the night.
2. Interiors - the interiors were very tastefully done. I have been to some of the finest hotels in the country and a few good ones overseas, this one is right at the top. Hard to explain, but see it for yourself.
The rooms do provide a sense of complete luxury. I have seen very few rooms which in fact look much better than the internet pictures. I especially liked the decoration of some of the common areas which was in fact quite spectacular.

Neutral/Cons: Don't have anything specifically negative, but mentioning things which could have been better:
1. Food was average, and would have appreciated some Rajasthani items on the menu. We were later advised that the chefs can prepare a Rajasthani thali though. I think the food was highly overpriced for the quality.
September is the off season, so they had only one restaurant open. Would have been nicer if there were more.
Breakfast was good though.
2. Service - there were delays/lapses at time, however some of the staff did try their best to offer the best service. So there was a combination of both. Don't think the hotel is in the Oberoi league for service by far, but quite ok.

One serious negative was the internet. Trust me, it is really slow and keeps disconnecting at times. So plz do not rely on the internet service for office work.

Overall I still have to give the hotel 5 stars as the quality of the property and the location quite overcompensate for everything. The cons are things to be mindful of, but would not advise you to treat them as deterrents for your trip.

Room Tip: There is a specific wing for the heritage view rooms which offers a clear view of the lake and the h...

We were searching for hotels in Udaipur in Trip Advisor and next day we received Monsoon season rates/packages to my email. They had my email from our previous stay in Trivandrum Leela. They were right on time for picking us up from Airport and they take you in boat to the hotel. Service was very good and courteous. The whole place gives you a royal feel and it is beautifully furnished. We stayed in Heritage room with view of the lake and it was awesome. We used the offer "stay 2 nights, 3rd night free" and all meals was included in the package. The staff at dining room was very helpful. They packed us lunch and breakfast when we have to go out. When we mentioned it is our anniversary and ordered a chocolate mousse, they made it to be a memorable dining experience. Special thanks to Jatish Ghai and the Chef for making it happen. U

Its a new property. Very beautifully made. I love the seating area outside the 24 hr restaurant. The Black & White flooring - the design is mind blowing. The food is very good. The rooms are very nice. It is situated on the lake so once can go on for boating. The spa looked very nice - though we didnt use it. Location is very good.

The best of everything...( and believe me....I travel a lot)
Luxury at its best : luxury in everything, let it be a simple table lamp on the bedside (with real gold dust) to the amazing quality of woodwork and interiors.
Services at its best : a well equipped gym with a qualified trainer, a big, fully operational pool with ever ready life guards and attendants. We really enjoyed the complementary iced tea on the pool side. With a kid of 5 years of age, we missed a kid's pool but the staff more than made it up by letting us use the spa pool. Boat service was also excellent.
Food at its best : one of the best food I ever had. be it vegetarian or non- vegetarian (including sea food) with always smiling restaurant staff. Even room service was detailed with flowers.
Location at its best : The best location of Udaipur with wonderful views of the lake palace, Jag mandir and of course the lake itself.

We had taken a romantic package during our 3 day stay at leela......which was real value for money. It included breakfast, one destination dining, boat ride, wine n chocolate, spa for the couple n bath tub decorated with bubble n rose petal........though the entrance of the hotel is from a very narrow lane.....we reached the hotel by jetty.......welcomed by traditional singers at the entrance we were escorted to our lake view room.......the decor of the hotel is opulent.....modern n at the same time royal touch.......lots of consoles with lamps n show pieces at every corner.......silver engraved chairs, tables elephants etc.....There is a traditional dance performance organised near the fountain area and tht is the most memorable experience......buffet breakfast spread is also good......though the destination dinner got spoilt coz of sudden rain but the management organised a complimentary dinner for us......the lake view is great from the room.....the spa was very rejuviniating ...........to add icing on the cake we were dropped to the station in the luxury sedan.......overall a real value for money

Property is amazing and is breath taking !
Very beautiful rooms !
Modern from within and artistic from the exterior.
Very luxurious :)
Latest technology.
But very silent at times which can get scary.
But if your looking for peace this is where you need to be.

Over all an amazing stay with great food and superb staff

Room Tip: Ground level rooms have a pool for you :)
