Disclaimer: Photos for the property definitely look better but don’t give the guests seeing online a correct inside picture.
We a group of 4 adults and 2 child aged 6 years stayed for 2 nights 3 days in Nov 2013.
It is a 2 star average size property very close to sawai madhopur railway station. It has rooms everywhere. It has 2 small lawns, 1 small restaurant / bar and yes a swimming pool. There are no recreational facilities for guests. It has limited no of waiters, reception staff and room attendants.
In reception I would like to specially mention the name of Mr. Ricky who is always available and seems running the entire show. There were 2 more guys but they seemed more interested in loitering around and Mr. Ashok Meena Business Head / Owner is nowhere to be seen.
Reception lacks proper knowledge or maybe interest to help Indian guests plan their itinerary and make the best use of their stay. U have to dig out information from them. There is no availability of printed pamphlets for places of tourist interest in and around sawai madhopur.
We could only manage Jungle Safari in Canter @ Rs 700/- per person (We were offered Gypsy @ Rs 1200/- per person) & Ranthambhore fort / Ganeshji Temple in Gypsy for 6 persons cost us Rs 1500/-. Camel Cart ride for around 1 hrs cost us Rs 1000/-
Guest type in the hotel is Indian families & foreign guests travelling in group tours.
Since they have limited staff, there is No Room Service (not even tea, coffee & milk given in room) although I saw waiter taking beer / liquor etc from restaurant to rooms possibly to their group tour guests.
The hotel has fixed hours for hot water supply in bathroom i.e. morning 05:30am – 7am, 09:30am - 11am & in Evening 05:30pm – 7pm as they have diesel boilers and there are no geysers in any rooms.
All Meals are served in single restaurant. Restaurant served meals a la carte i.e. on order basis even for guests who are booked on AP plan. They serve buffet style only when they have group check in and the hotel is full. Once during our stay they arranged buffet but I feel their a la carte is better as there was no variety in the buffet.
Food served was homely type and tasty but lacked variety. We were on AP plan and got the option daily to choose 1Bread, 1Dal, 1Paneer, 1Seasonal Veg, 1Raita, Salad & papad. 1Sweet was added for dinner. Breakfast served was boiled egg/omellete, toast, paratha or puri sabzi with tea/coffee.
The swimming pool is definitely not up to the mark. The towels seemed dirty and worn out, possibly being reused? Benches around the pool were also not very impressive either.
Further there is no staff at swimming pool to look after the guests. As informed by hotel staff normally swimming pool is maintained once in a week’s time.
It has 45 rooms divided into Deluxe rooms, Cottage Rooms & Super Deluxe Rooms. All rooms have twin beds which are joined to make it look like a double bed. It is difficult for the child to sleep in between as there is a gap.
Deluxe rooms are small rooms on top of reception & behind reception. Cost on American plan (AP plan) i.e. with all meals @ Rs 4000 / night on double occupancy with 1 child without bed below 6 years. I didn’t get to see this room personally.
Cottage rooms are bigger rooms around reception on ground floor and first floor in blocks of 2 rooms each but they all have common walls so actually there are row type of rooms and not exactly a separate cottage. Room and Washroom size was big but basic. Location is surrounded by too many trees which restrict the view from window Cost on American plan (AP plan) i.e. with all meals @ Rs 5000 / night on double occupancy with 1 child without bed below 6 years. I personally saw this room and checked in on day 1.
Super Deluxe rooms are ground floor rooms in newly constructed wing behind swimming pool with amenities and size same as cottage rooms. The only difference they are new. Cost on American plan (AP plan) i.e. with all meals @ Rs 6000 / night on double occupancy with 1 child without bed below 6 years.
We had booked Deluxe rooms on AP plan with meals served buffet style with complimentary pick and drop from Sawai Madhopur Railway station @ Rs 4200 / night per room . On Check in we were upgraded to cottage rooms on 1st floor which I personally didn’t like as they didn’t offer any views from my window.
Then we went for lunch and were disappointed to know that the meals lacked variety and are on a la carte basis. When I made a written complaint to the reception, they promptly upgraded me to super deluxe rooms at the same price. So we stayed in 2 Super Deluxe Rooms on AP plan @ total Rs 16800/- for 2 nights/ 3 days with complimentary pick and drop from Sawai Madhopur Station.
On the day of check out our train was at 5:30pm and although hotel was empty we had to spend 3 hrs at the reception.
So I leave it to my esteemed readers to decide themselves whether the hotel is GOOD, BAD OR UGLY: I AM STILL CONFUSED U PLEASE DECIDE YRSELF , especially keeping in mind the total cost.
None of the rooms offers any view. So i suggest book deluxe rooms, save cost and try if you can get...
