“Amazing!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

The first view of Devi Garh is breathtaking!!

A gracefully aged palace sitting on the top of a hill and surrounded by the scenic hills of Rajasthan.

We walked into the Devi Garh and had the singluar experience of having flower petals rain upon us in welcome. Amazing.

We caught a quick glimpse of the castle and received a brief history lesson from our warm and welcoming guide. We were welcomed with a drink and led to our room.

Our room was beautiful. Cool, spacious, restful and beautiful. Ingenious and spacious tub made of marble plenty of towels, clean white shower curtains everything about this room made you want to stay at Devi forever. Attention was paid to each detail in the room to make any guest feel welcome.

Our room had comfortable seats and a rocking chair on the veranda of the room as well as privacy blinds around the veranda.

The staff at Devi Garh are exemplary. Warm, attentive and willing to go out of their way to ensure your every need is met. They are courteous, professional and excellent at customer service.

The meals were well prepared and savory. The breakfast spread is as diverse as it is delicious. The restaurant is gorgeous. Overlooking the hills with a panaromic view of the surrounding area. Room service takes an amazingly short 15 to 20 minutes and the food gets to you piping hot and delicious.

The pool is made of green marble and is self warming......truly! The grounds on which the castle sit are an adventure to explore. Steep stairs that lead to more gorgeous spaces, courtyards and gardens....turrets and alcoves within the hotel with a traditional feel but fancy finishes. Children would LOVE Devi Garh!

The palace overlooks one of the oldest most sacred temples in the region. We took time to relax on the rooftop, under a clear sky studded with a million stars with the distant sound of ceremonial prayers in the air further adding to the surreal and exotic ambience.....

We lost our room key on our second day at Devi and the staff were warm and gracious enough to make the constant requests to open our room bearable.

The l'occitane spa gorgeous. Beautiful decor, unending space, restful and peaceful interiors and best of all l'occitane!! The spa packages are varied and have something that will appeal to everyone.

I took time to have a manicure and pedicure. Although i was disappointed with the mani pedi, i still wanted to try out their massage but unfortunately we were unable to due to time constraints :-(.

It may not be cheap but I would recommend Devi Garh to anyone who is looking for luxury, comfort, good food and amazing service in a beautiful environment.

It is truly a 5 star hotel, you will live in a palace and be treated like royalty.

Room Tip: Don't leave A/C on in the room (especially bathroom) as the air re circulation can make your roo...

Amazing fort on the national highway. Great location. Rooms are excellent with mountain view. I really feel like a prince when I was there. The hospitality of the staff was excellent. I know only one name Devendra at front desk who was very kind.

This is what living in a 300 year old castle feels like. And it's 5 star living too. This atmosphere and the beautiful surrounding Rajasthani hills that had so much character, made an amazing backdrop for the wedding I was attending. The service was excellent. If you want to enjoy a royal treatment, visit here. Enchanting is definitely a word that comes to mind.
One thing I did not get used to was the steps. Because this is a 300 year old castle, the steps are big and uneven and to get to your room was a challenge at the best of times. And room service was payable in cash or credit card on the spot. Not used to this if an establishment claims to be 5 star. Change would have been appreciated too, so you had to have exact change otherwise it just added to the tip.
Will visit there again for the atmosphere.

Room Tip: Every room is different. I stayed in room 307. It was huge and had oh, so much space. Others swore b...

This place looks like a dream- sign up for the preferred hotels membership club before going. Free and such great amenities - free dinner by candlelight, free breakfast, free afternoon tea which is like lunch. Well worth it. We loved this hotel except for the mandatory new yrs party- $500 and not great for us who didn't even stay up till midnight. Wish they did not require this but other than that, lovely property.

Although Devi Garh is a bit outside Udaipur, I would recommend a stay here above the top hotels in Udaipur itself. The place is absolutely enchanting. On top of a hill in a small village with great views on the mountains, this refurbished fort is amazing. Contrary to what some reviews mention, this old fort (from the 18th century) is modernized looking after all comforts while keeping the old-world charm. The fort has many nooks and corners to explore and to be amazed; old pictures, murals combined with clean and modern looking furniture.

The service may be a bit slower than what american/european tourists are used to but the employees are very likeable and friendly and do their utmost to make your stay as wonderful as possible. The food is delicious, fresh and a wide assortment is available. The spa packages are wonderful and staff is very helpful. Book a yoga session with shuker (apologies if the name is spelled incorrectly, but he is the manager of the spa) which is a great experience.

Our stay was a highlight in our two week vacation in India and we wished we had stayed longer (as opposed to staying in Udaipur city itself).

We went to Devigarh for our honeymoon in Jan 2013..its an awesome palace..suite 52 was absolutely beautiful...great views of the surrounding aravalis, very helpful and friendly staff, great breakfasts...in all it was a fabulous experience.. the palace with its minimalistic soft lighting looks surreal in the evenings, especially from the pool...local musicians play haunting music in the evnings..we loved Devigarh for so many things...much better experience than the Lake Palace at Udaipur....will definitely go again and recommend to all.

Room Tip: suite 52 is the best

Set in a beautiful location among the Aravalli Hills, Davi Garh Fort Hotel is an enormous 18th century Rajasthani fort completely restored from a ruin. Photographs in one of the reception foyers show how the building was at the start of the programme of restoration.

It is a magnificent, even spectacular, property, and one which retains the feel of the original. Some of the mural paintings remain from its former state.

The conversion has been done with great lavishness. We had a tour of the palace when we arrived, and were hugely impressed with the extraordinary high quality of the design attention focused on every detail of each space.

We stayed in a palace suite (No 34) which we thought absolutely stunning. It was an elegant contemporary space of white marble and white upholstery. Outside the room, the courtyard of the women’s quarters had been filled with a beautiful modern water feature, the original elegant swing retained, and a scented garden planted of the extraordinarily highly perfumed mogra flowers and a hedge of basil. The room design reflected this as it had a kind of logo of giant outlines of one of the flowering shrubs filling one wall. The same shape was inlaid in ochre marble and mother of pearl on the floor and the top of the marble desk. It is a model of fabulous contemporary design. The bathroom, shower-room and loo were equally elegant as was the small dressing room and wardrobe area.

The staff were uniformly attentive, courteous and couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was a happy one. The restaurant has the same high design standards and serves wonderful Indian and International cuisine.

The staff are proud of the service standards they have achieved and this, of course, is a function of the quality of the management of Devi Garh.

Reservations? Well, it is not really a reservation but the Devi Garh Forth Palace does pursue the highest standards, and this is reflected in the prices not only for accommodation but also meals, drinks, laundry, and other incidentals. On the other hand the excellent wi-fi was free.

Room Tip: see notes about No 34 above
