“Great flavor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

We had the chopped brisket sandwiches with potato salad from their lunch special and it was all yummy. The BBQ could have had a bit more spice for my taste, but it was still very good and a great addition to AF. The food was ready quickly and the staff was very courteous. The ice cream shop that serves Blue Bell is right next door and they share a middle room together that is decorated well with vintage license plates and various paraphernalia. They make great neighbors--highly recommend a stop if you are in AF!

“New in Town - Glad They're Here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

Shirey's was new in town since our time there last summer. Evidently they have moved from their original location in Rockwall (Dallas area), Texas. We ordered the brisket and some smoked turkey to go to be used as part of another meal we were making at our condo. Both were excellent and if they are any indication of all the food, I would definitely say Shirey's is worth a stop. While we never dined in, Shirey's and the ice cream shop next door share a seating area, so it sounded like the waitstaff was friendly and, while small, it looks like it has a decent decor. Like most places in AF, Shirey's closes around 8, so don't plan on any late evening stops. While it's more than you would pay for BBQ back home, it seems like the value is in line with most places in AF.

“Kids enjoyed the BBQ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Shirey's in new in town. The owner moved his already established business up to Angel Fire, NM from the Dallas area. Evidently, his bbq was renowned in the quaint Rockwall area. Our son enjoyed the fare so much, he returned with a friend a few days later. I'm not sure it's THAT great.
"It'll do" is more like it. There are no longer any other bbq venues in town -- and, it would seem that Texans, Oklahomans, New Mexicans and others can hardly live without clogging their veins with the fatty brisket (as you may have guessed, this is not my kind of fare).
I'd have to say that Shirey's is OK -- not exceptional.
If you absolutely, positively have to have bbq, and you're in Angel Fire, tuck in and enjoy. Otherwise, treat yourself to something else.

“Owner arrogant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We ate there twice, the owner is a [--]. We will never go back. The food was good but not worth putting up with arrogance.
