“had its good points”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

This hotel was disappointing. The staff were helpful and friendly but the place itself needed a good clean. There were enough staff and they swept the place, but they hung about rather than washed floors. It all felt rather grubby. I was here in Jan 2014. no glass in the windows, meant i had to keep the shutters in my room shut - it was cold and hot water ran for only a few hours a day, which my schedule didn't coincide with.

We did not have a good experience at this guesthouse and cannot recommend it to anyone else. The management had lost our booking and blamed us for using a uncommon booking site (hostelbookers, through tripadv.) refusing to refund our downpayment or honor our reservation. They did have a room for the night, already paid for by another customer who had to leave at 8:30, which they offered to us for almost full price (despite that it was already paid), using the busy situation around christmas to get more money out of us.

There is nothing really wrong with the property of Hare Krishna guesthouse, our deluxe room was ok, nothing more, nothing less, without hot water in the morning as promised. The rooftop terrace mostly has a view of other rooftop cafes, but the majestic fort is close by and you get a really good view on that. The chai and the breakfast was far below average.

Overall, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, the management will see you as a bag of money (happens often in India, but less often so obvious) and you can get nicer rooms for same price. I suggest go to the other side of the fort instead, much less touristy and more beautiful.

The Hotel offers big, clean rooms with hot water, friendly and helpful staff and a vegetarian restaurant on the roof with a great view over the fort.
Everything is in walking distance: the clocktower market, the fort and many many restaurants and shops.

To reach this hotel you need to cross the busy roads of jodhpur but once you the hotel you are greeted with nice view of mehrangarh fort and a great food which is fresh.
the evening tea on the top watching the mighty mehrangarh fort is a delight with a total peace with you and your Tea.
the place gets more colorful in the evening when all the lights focus on meharangarh fort and the whole color of jodhpur changes and having a cold beer with a view and silence adds more to the value.

Room Tip: Take the top room as it is easy access from the Top view

Set away from the noise and pollution of the markets, this is a great hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious and well priced, the shower was the best I've had in india so far and the staff ate lovely. Had a great chat with one of the guys and he said their philosophy was to offer fair prices, cleanliness and good food so that people come back and pass on their details word of mouth. It works. Highly recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-November 2013. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was brilliant. The room was 1150 Rupees for a room on their top floor, with a private terrace with fort views and shared balcony with views over the blue city. Good location, only 5 mins walk to the main square with the clocktower, and there are lots of restaurants around. The room was very clean and there was plenty of space.

The only downside was that we never really managed to get more than luke warm water out of the shower. We also went on the Bishnoi village safari organised by the hotel which we would not recommend. It was very expensive, didn't last very long, and was quite awkward/contrived.

The rooftop restaurant was ok, but we only ever had breakfast there.

We booked Kesar Heritage Guest House due to its reasonable review in Trip Adviser. However, when we got to the hotel, our auto-rickshaw driver dropped us at the entrance and told us that the man walking behind us is the owner of the guest house so we followed him. Without a word, he took us up a very steep flight of steps then asked for our voucher. We said that we do not have a voucher but have an email confirmation. He then spoke to someone else in Hindi and told us to follow him and said that he was taking us to his other property which is a few doors away to Hare Krishna Guest House. He took us to a room which was worse than the advertised room. It was unclean and he barked orders for someone to clean the room for us. He then told us to go to the rooftop restaurant to wait whilst the room is being cleaned. We took his advice and ordered a papaya milkshake and got a pineapple one instead. The property looked deserted and we only ever saw maybe one other guest in the guest house. We went for a walk in the evening and when my partner wanted to have a shower at 10pm, there was no hot water. I went to the entrance and saw a group of man outside chatting when one of them approached me whom I believe must be the owner. I mentioned to him that there was no hot water and he said that he will heat it up for me and to wait for 30 minutes. I thought this strange and he went on the say that they heat up for the water from 8am to 12noon and from 6pm to 9pm. I told him that someone should have mentioned this to me when I checked in. He went on to say that he had been in a wedding and that he was not able to do anything for his guests even though he has someone in the kitchen who can easily heat up the water. I told him that he is running a guest house and that he should provide his guest with the facilities and he said that it was not important to him. After waiting for 40 minutes, there was still no hot water so I went to see him again. He said that the water will be hot soon and that he will get someone to knock on my door. I finally got the knock on the door at 11:10pm that there is hot water. The other guest said that the hot water was irregular.

Communication is a problem as the staff have poor English causing a problem with laundry. My partner dropped some laundry in the morning and gave specific instructions that it needed to be back in the evening as we will be leaving very early the next day. We asked for our laundry at 6pm and were told that it will only be ready in the morning. We said that we wanted it now as we will be leaving early in the morning. He then said that it will be delivered in 30 minutes. When we enquired about an hour later, we were told that the washing was not ready but it will be delivered to us when it does. There was a knock on the door at 8pm and the man outside the door handed me our very wet washing. Apparently it has just been washed! We find this very appalling and cannot understand how the man run the Hare Krishna Guest House when he clearly has no customer requirements in mind. I strongly suggest that these two guest houses be avoided.
