“Brilliant location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

This is an excellent havelli in a brilliant location. It also has the best restaurant on the top of the building- outstanding views. My room was quiet and off the main square. I would would highly recommend this place although it was perhaps the least personal of the hotels we stayed in.

India Rajasthan either very touristic and pushy (the worst is Jaipur) or a little West Jodhpur (the "Blue City" with -analogy- a medina like Marrakech (Marocco).

The day sightseeing is outstanding but the best is at night.

Restaurant Pal Haveli on top of a 18th century building ... service, friendliness, food excellent and prices very reasonable on food but also on wine (big exception as in India simple wine is priced like upscale Champagne elsewhere).

The diner is an outstanding experience : thali (mixed indian food - see picture), picture and night view on the illuminated fort.

GO TRY IT ...

We arrived in Jodhpur to stay at another hotel which was awful (see review) our driver suggested the Pal Haveli. What an amazing place, the manager went out of his way to give us a lovely room having heard about our disappointing experience at the other place. We had a huge ground floor room in an inner courtyard with a small fountain, so restful and full of Indian character, the bedding was clean and the bed soooo comfortable. The rooftop restaurant was amazing and the food was the best we had in India, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

The location of this converted Haveli is really great just off the main market place & it has great views from the roof top terrace. Our room was vast & with fans that blew you flat against the bed! Lots of stairs to climb to the restaurant on the roof. Good food. Not too spicey. Loads of character & charm with super verandas to sit on. The massage centre is not recommended. Our skin smelt of curry afterwards & it was quite a horrible & allergic reaction type of experience.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the temple if you don't want to be woken up at an early hour. (the temple al...

Our room in Pal Haveli off an inner courtyard on the ground floor was fantastic.
The room was enormous with many original features.
The bed was a little hard and could have done with a `topper`, but everything else was excellent.
The restaurant on the roof was great with wonderful views of the fort. The stairs up there are very steep so hang on to the bannister on the way down.

Unfortunately, we didn't have an opportunity to stay at the Pal Haveli on this visit to Jodhpur. A friend did, however, reserve a table for us to take dinner here one evening - and what a memorable evening it was!

The rooftop restaurant provided one of the most special nightime views imaginable - with the city's four most important sights, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace and the Clock Tower, all illuminated. The food and service could not be faulted, yet the bill for three people - all of whom ate and drank their fill - was a modest 2500 Rupees (GBP 31/USD 46). including the tip.

Here's to the next time!

This hotel was in a great location for us. From here we walked up to the fort, to Spice paradise and around the market area. If you have a driver, you can be dropped off directly outside. There is a quiet inner courtyard where you can sit to have a drink at any time and the roof top restaurant is very popular. We enjoyed eating there. Our room was the old stables. It was clean and attractive although perhaps a little dark for some people due to the nature of the building. Other rooms will be different though as they will be in a different part of the building. We exchanged money at reception. Bottled water suppied in the room is not complimentary here as it was at many other places we stayed. I would stay here again when visiting Jodphur.
