“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

We had the most amazing 3 days at Chandelao Garh in December 2013. It's a lovely old property with extremely helpful staff and a very committed owner, Praduman Singh who really is hands on.It's an easy 45 minutes drive to Jodhpur and you can do Jodhpur's main sights in a day. Please spend more time at Chandelao and take Praduman's recommendations on what to do.We went on a bird watching trip as well as a visit to Pipar city and thoroughly enjoyed both.We also enjoyed visiting Sunder Rang, the crafts centre at Chandelao Garh.
If you are looking for a 5 star resort and continuous running supply of hot water, this is not the place for you but if you want an authentic Indian experience with the most lovely hosts, ever helpful staff, excellent food and two very friendly dogs to play with, you won't go wrong in booking this place.

When I and my wife were driving to Jodhpur last week, we stopped for a roadside tea and read about the interesting Chandelao Garh in Tripadvisor and the Hotel website. I decided to try something different from the regular city 'Palace' stays, and called them. The call was picked up by the Owner himself, Thakur Praduman Singh and the rest is a thrilling adventure! He did guide us from the point the GPS stops, and we reached the 200 year old Chandelao Garh at 9:00pm. We liked the rooms with stone walls, antique furniture and old wooden doors, yet having all modern amenities. Non veg dinner was arranged in front of our Suite in the dark wilderness, with drinks and firewood, an unforgettable romantic experience. Next morning, we woke up in the lap of nature and saw a few parrots on a tree. Very creative indeed of Thakur Saab to have conceived and developed his ancestral place, and it does not cost you a fortune to stay and dine there. Highly recommended to all couples, and creative people!

Room Tip: All rooms have a great ambience, the beds in 118-120 are contemporary

The place is 40 kms from jodhpur and in the middle of nowhere.nothing is nearby and the property is nothing great .
The road leading to the hotel was without any lights and no sign boards were there for directions.Gor persuaded by the splendid reviews and opted for one night stay. However the experience was disappointing .
The rooms were not maintained properly.there were mosquitoes in the room. There were no room heaters provided in the cold weather of last week in december.
The food was average and they charged 400 per person which felt like totally unjustified.
The only good thing about the place was the PET Labrador named HAZEL..
The breakfast was also very poor.
The eggs served were not cooked properly and parathas were burnt..
There was no hot water in the room
The staff started to argue when we pointed out that there is no hot water in the room.
Even the owner Pradyuman singh did not bother to look into this issue .
The overall experience was a disaster..Do not be persuaded to opt for stay here since it is not worth it..

Room Tip: Don't travel so far for nothing

Dear Sir
Thank you for choosing Chandelao to stay. I understand that we are 40kms (45minutes drive)from the city centre. Chandelao is a small village and hence there are no street lights etc and if one is coming in the night it feels like middle of nowhere.
I have taken up the hot water issue and have now installed electric back up to our existing water heaters. Also intructions have been given to spray againt mosquitos.
Your feed back is important to us and we will act on it so that the travellers coming can have a good experience.
Regards
Praduman Singh

We weren't quite sure what to expect when we booked this hotel, but when we arrived we were amazed!
This old fort is in a very small village in the middle of nowhere.
The building is beautiful, people working there are cool, food is very good, the whole is experience is very original!
The blue city, Jodhpur, is only 45' away and definitely worths a visit, especially to the fort!

We were recommended this place by our friends who had stayed there, and we have been thankful to them for suggesting this place. What an experience. Your whole stay experience feels so exclusive set among the calm and serene village ambiance. You wake up to the sounds of birds. The rooms are so very tastefully decorated and provided for all your creature comforts. Best place, if you want to loose yourselves from e-mails, mobile calls and just chill out. The personal attention Mr. Parduman pays to make your stay pleasant is unique. Imagine getting a glass of warmed up fresh cow milk in the morning at breakfast! The cooks take great efforts to cook something just for you. We have vowed that we will go back again for a longer stint at this unforgettable Ha(e)ven!

This was our 2nd trip to Rajasthan and this time we avoided the main cities and stayed in small hotels in smaller towns and villages. We wanted a more relaxed trip so most of the places we stopped at, we stopped for 2 nights so there was no rushing off every morning. We could have a day to ourselves just chilling.

We stayed at Chandelao Garh in October 2012 and we enjoyed staying with Praduman at his restored family fort that we decided to make Chandelao the first stop on this years trip. To avoid the long car or rail journey from Delhi we flew with Jet Airways to Jodhpur and then had a car to take us straight to Chandelao which is a small village 40km from Jodhpur.

What you get from Chandelao Garh is a warm, friendly and relaxing experience - Praduman and all his staff are really friendly and helpful and we cannot forget his mother who still oversees the kitchen and the preparation of food.

The stable rooms, which come with en-suite facilities were once more very clean and comfortable and the grounds of this small for are ideal for sitting round, relaxing and having a quiet drink in the shade.

If you want a relaxing, idyillic place to stay then go to Chandelao but don't miss the work Praduman is doing with the local village i.e. the computer centre and the womens small workshop. He really is trying to help improve the lives of others less fortunate than his family

P.S. - Praduman has even installed a small pool which guests can relax around.
