“Excellent stay, far from the madding crowd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

Its one of the best part of our Rajasthan Trip. Wish we could stay few more days. It was such a relaxing experience and the warmth extended by the owner is beyond compare. The place is around 35Km from Jodhpur city and you can enjoy the serenity of rural life with ultra-modern amenities in your room. On reaching there we were welcomed with garlands and fruit juice. We were overwhelmed about the warmth extended to us after a 5-6 hrs drive. The owner took time to talk to us as if we were his long lost friend, only then he did the formalities of room booking. Never ever during our stay we felt that we were pushed for time. The dinner is served by his personal kitchen staff and continuously supervised by the owner.
We booked 3 rooms. The rooms had king size bed and one even had 2 king sized beds, big lounge and even bigger bathroom.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stay, breakfast ranged from continental to pure Indian food and its delicious. During lunch the owner's mother took personal effort to come and greet us and make sure the food was up to the standards.
Next time whenever I visit Rajasthan , I would surely stay here for a week at least. Its far better than staying in any other place near Jodhpur.

Stay here!
Excellent food, staff, service.
The village it's in is very traditional.
Also they have a charity based craft centre for local woment which my 8 year old helped out in.
Even if your on a budget make sure you stay here, it's well worth it...
It's heaven!!!!!!

We stayed at Chandelao Garh for 4 nights during the third week of a 10 week stay in India, using the hotel as a relaxation break after visits to Shekhawati, Bikaner and Jaisalmer. In all respects the hotel delivered up to our hopes and expectations.

Situated in a small village off the Jodhpur-Jaipur Highway, the hotel is peaceful and yet within striking distance of Jodhpur (40kms) if a day trip is required. Other excursions are available including a safari around Bishnoi villages and a visit to the nearby town of Pipar.

As for the hotel, the owner Praduman Singh is on hand to ensure that all is well and he regularly joins visitors at mealtimes, with food prepared under the supervision of his mother. Lunch and dinner are generally offered as buffets but the excellent food has that fresh, "home cooked" quality rarely found in buffets available in larger hotels. The range of dishes was also good (approx 5-6 for each meal) with little or no repetition during our stay.

In the evening and prior to dinner, guests tend to congregate around the bar, with braziers providing heat if necessary. Where guest numbers justify it, some typical Rajasthani entertainment is provided - probably the best that we have seen on our several journeys throughout the state. Indeed the musicianship, singing and dancing summed up the hotel - quality throughout.

Chandelao Garh is a traditional landowner house, beautiful restored with several beautiful
furnished rooms. The garden is perfect for relaxing and it is perfectly quiet. It is in the middle of a non touristic Rajasthani village. They serve 3 times a lovely meal, cooked by the owners mother. You have the chance to socialise with the other guest and the owner during meals or keep to yourself if you like. We met fantastic people there. They offer birdwatching tours, and authentic Bishnoi village tours and more. Praduman, the owner is a lovely, open, relaxed person and he can really give you an insight of the authentic life in India.
You will meet Hazel and Kitty the sweetest guard dogs, all kids just loved them. It is definitely a treat and a great memory of India.

This was one of our most memorable stay. Stayed at renown chain of resorts like Lemon tree and more but Chandelao Garh stands a long way ahead all of these. Me and my girlfriend made a trip on bike to Jaisalmer from New Delhi. Stayed 2 nights here.

On day one, when we arrived we could find no one and could not find the reception either as they did not had any. The property is very lone and far away from the highway noise in a very small village. At first the Haveli looked very haunted and my girl friend was very scared to spend the night. Finally in about 10 minutes we saw someone coming towards us welcoming us. Completed the formalities and moved towards our room. The room was mind blowing. Not very urban but has a lot of ethnic interiors and furniture. The property is well maintained and kept. They had arranged a roof top buffet with a very with candles every where and moon with a clear sky. The food was great and delicious. There is plenty of space to roam around, so after dinner a walk around the property is must. The staff is well trained and very welcoming. Rooms are clean and you never have to tell them to clean it. We always found it clean when ever we got back.

Chandelao Garh was one of our most memorable stay.

I spent two nights at Chandelao Garh in January 2012.It was a great experince in touch with the authentic life of an Indian rural village untamed and unspoilt by tourism. At Chandelao everything is uncommercial. You can have a walk in the village,a jeep safari to see the wild animals or you can reach Pipar a small town nearby where, at the bazar, you can do shopping at real Indian prices.Mr Praduman, the owner of the hotel,(once his family home)
will arrange everything for you.He is a perfect host, kind and helpful, and a true gentleman not only by birth but in his behaviour with guests.I enjoyed very much his intelligent and illuminating conversation .You must remember that at Chandelao you are
first of all guests and then customers. This makes the difference!
The fort has been converted in hotel preserving, in a wonderfull way, its original atmosphere.
The horse stables have been renovated into elegant first class suites with huge marble bathrooms , Rajasthan furniture and textiles.I enjoyed the wide courtyard with flowering shrubs, the bonfires, the terrace under the stars.
The food was always fresh and delicious.
I greatly recommend Chandelao as it was the highlight of my travel to India.

Building and grounds were a very beautiful and peaceful retreat from the bustling cities. Nice clean simple rooms. A bird lovers paradise. Nobody seemed to know anything about the activities mentioned on website (horseriding, sundowners) but it's a great location to sit and do nothing in. Having drinks atop the gatehouse was very relaxing. You can wander around the small village and see daily life taking place (taking the sheep to water, ladies collecting water). You need to arrange transport to and from the village as nothing is available in the vicinity. Lunch and dinner were fine but nothing to write home about. Both cost Rps 350 when we stayed there. I would recommend it for a few days as a change from the usual Indian cities.
