“Can't imagine a better option for the price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Stayed here 1 night and did a 1 night camel safari from/through here and don't have a single complaint.

Upon arriving to town, Shahi Palace sent a complimentary taxi to grab us from the bus station (MUCH appreciated as the other tuk tuk/taxi drivers are worse than hungry vultures).

We were shown 3 rooms, all reasonably priced and were able to choose which we wanted.

The building and decorations are beautiful, rooms are clean and the staff/owner were extremely helpful and friendly. We had a great night sleep, loved the restaurant and the hot water shower is always appreciated.

All prices for rooms, safari, tours, food were fair and we felt safe and taken care of on our safari (I've heard horror stories about budget safari's from other travelers, but ours was great).

Although Shahi isn't located inside the fort (most places aren't), the rooftop has a beautiful view of it and you can get to the fort gates in about a 5 minute walk.

The most impressive thing though was upon our check-out, the owner asked us directly if there's anything he could do to improve his hotel. The only thing we could come up with (after much thought) was perhaps he could put a few more outlets in the rooms so we could charge our devices. That was it. So, virtually, zero complaints.

Thanks for a great time in Jaisalmer Shahi!

We stayed here for two nights and had a great time. In fact, we didn't stay at Shahi Palace but in one of their other places, which was cheaper. We payed 600 Rs a night for a double room. The room was very spacious and was extremely clean. The view from the rooftop terrace was also amazing. You had a great view on the fort. I would stay here again next time.

We are so pleased we chose the Shahi Palace, rooms were decorated in traditional bright colours & the roof top restaurant was fantastic- perfect view of the fort.

Their Chef made the best butter chicken we've had in India...you have to try it.

4 brothers run this hotel & are all really helpful & friendly, Hemant is lovely, made us laugh & showed us the sights.

We will definitely return to Jaisalmer & stay here again.

Stay at the hotel was fine. Though the owners were conspicuously indifferent to Indians in stark contrast to foreigners.

Rooms on the first floor were pretty quiet, though rooms on the ground floor were noisy and had no ventilation.

Roof-top restaurant was relaxing, especially at night. They play instrumental soothing music.

Room service was prompt, rooms were clean.

We stayed in the most budget room the hotel offered and it was incredible! It was located just 4 minutes walk in a separate annex down the street, but it was clean, quiet and incredibly managed. The shower/toilet were not en-suite, but for just 350 rupees nightly, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. The room had clean sheets, a TV, phone, window, hooks for drying towels, towels and soap/toilet paper all included.
Staff at the hotel were helpful and always around and very attentive. They were very helpful. We booked a camel safari elsewhere before we had arranged our stay there so can't comment on the one they offer. The restaurant has great views and is probably one of the best rooftops around, however was a bit pricey for us. Overall, excellent stay!

This is one of the best places I have stayed in India, and I say that having travelled across India many times.
The rooms are beautiful, bright and spotless, with spacious, clean bathrooms. Hot showers and clean towels makes the stay a luxurious one! Very reasonably priced and you get more for your money here than you do in some other places in India.
A free pick up from the station and tea on the rooftop open arrival is a wonderful welcome, especially after a long train ride from Delhi. There is also a free drop off at the station. I needed to check out later than the stated check out time and the manager kindly gave me the extra few hours I needed, showing that they also know good customer service here.

The rooftop is wonderful, with a spectacular view of the fort.

The location is also excellent, within walking distance of most places and staff will helpfully provide you with a map and directions.

I can't recommend this place enough and will certainly be staying here again on my next trip to Jaisalmer.
