“Unique and beautiful desert adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

After a somewhat strange beginning ..dropped off in a bare hotel room to "freshen up" the jeep arrives and we are off. It is long.. 45 minutes of really rough roads-and then you are on sand and it really feels like you are in middle of nowhere...but it's all worth it. The tents are spacious and elegant .. the attached private bath is clean
There has been thought put into the experience the camel ride is 45 minutes and another 30-40 minutes watching the sun set over the dunes Later a bonfire set in the middle of an outdoor pavillion while we have a drink and snacks a dance is performed .. the music is haunting and beautiful but the dancer is not much more entertaining than your a verage belly dancer . The stars are the real show and the silence.. Amazing

Before I decided to go with Damodra, I did a pretty extensive reviewing and comparison with other camps and it was one of the best choice we made. First, they responded very quickly to all my emails and concerns. Since we are arriving from Udaipur (a grueling 14 hours India bus ride), they arranged a car to pick us up from the bus station. The getting off and staying away from all the vendors who are trying to sell you the package is no joke. I am so thankful to have a jeep waiting there for us.
The camp was located at non touristy area and the small intimate setting made it so relaxing. And the service is incredible. All the staffs made us feel welcomed. They went out of their way to make us feel special. The quality of the mattress is one of the best. And the Chef even made some pasta for us. I will recommend this place to everyone..

Firstly I would like to thank prithvi!!! A wonderful host and now dost for the amazing hospitality!!!

the location of the camp is the best : - In the middle of the desert.

We entered the camp late night and we were welcomed with a dhol and some amazing pyaz and mirchi pakode followed by the qawwali singers mesmerizing the rest of the evening followed by a authentic dinner..... I can go on in the praise of this camp...... the highlights:

1. Very safe and friendly camp
2. Awesome location
3. Visit to the calm, beautiful, scenic and unexplored sand dunes
4. Visit to the local village
5. Visit to the khaba fort
6. Unparralel hospitality by Prithvi and the rest of the team!!!!

Must visit jaisalmer and stay should be here!!!

Eight of us stayed at this place for a day in December. It has been a wonderful experience. Camp owner Prithvi and his staff are very friendly and professional. Camel Safari was great and the sunset at the dunes was very memorable. We were treated to very good folk music and performance by several artists.

This place has 10 tents and is not overly crowded unlike other desert camps at SAM. Prithvi and his staff maintain the place very well and they ensure that you have a great and memorable experience.

I strongly recommend Damodra Desert Camp to anyone who is planning to stay in a tent in Jaisalmer. Keep up the good work Prithvi and team.

- Naveen

We were picked up by the Jeep and visited Jassi Oasis and Khaba fort enroute to the dunes. We rode camels to the dunes and the sunset was a great experience. We were then driven to the Damodara Camp, where we were accorded a very warm welcome.
The food and the ambience was very good.
The service by the owner Prithvi and his staff (all of them hail from the village Damodara after which the camp is named) was excellent. They ensured we had a wonderful time and it was an experience we will be cherishing for long.

Decided to try damodra after reading the bad reviews about the sam sand dunes being over crowded and littered and the agressive camel owners, etc. As promised by Prithvi we were given an experience we will nuture forever.

We were picked up by the camp jeep, and after a visit to khaba and jassie oasis we were driven to the camel staging area, the camels are also owned by the camp, with one camel per person we rode about 2 kms to sand dunes which were devoid of human presence.

after an fantasic evening of solitude in the dunes watching the sunset, we were driven to the camp, the camp is isolated and has 10 tents, the food and traditional entertainment was fantastic.

Fantastic hospitality, the staff and Prithvi went out of the way to ensure our comfort, Cant ask for more,

keep up the good work Prithvi, Will definitely recommend Damodra Desert Camp to one and all.
