“Sojourn at the Jeet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

I agree with the bulk of the reviews here, except for the camel safari comments. I've been twice to Jaisalmer and twice on Adventure Camel safaris. You pay slightly more but the service and quality of experience is well worth it.
And Kamal, what a gem! His fresh dahl and rice is just awesome, apart from his helpful friendliness. (I hope your marriage goes off well, Kamal!).

Thank you Bhupesh for your attentive hospitality. I hope to return with my wife next time.

Feel like Home! was the first thing they told me in the small guest house. And I did. Rooms are clean and comfy. Karmal the awsome cook is a master of rajhastany cuisine. Try anything from the guesthouses menu and get bewitched by his cooking skills. I am still very thankful for the help to follow my heart. Booking a bus ticket and transporting me to the bus stand was done in no time and with lots of sympathy. Thanks to the staffs quick action I found the guy in Jodhpur.

Although our room was small and had no window it was very quaint and we enjoyed our stay there. The walls had lovely patterns carved into them and seemed very authentic looking.

The location of the hotel is great just 1 min walk from the fort and amongst lots of shops and restaurants.

The hotel also offered free wifi, which worked in the rooms. Though we often spent time in reception using it and chatting to the friendly staff.

With decent honest prices, around 300rs for a double, I would recommend this place.

Kamal was the best waiter we met in all of India! We were traveling for a month and didn't meet anyone as kind, welcoming, or talented as Kamal. He made amazing teas for all different needs. We had colds and he made tea that helped immensely. The same went for our sore throats. Throughout our stay, he consistently went out of his way to satisfy our needs. He did it all with a HUGE smile on his face... a truly inspiring smile. Kamal made our time at the Jeet Mahal restaurant and in Jaisalmer incredibly memorable.

Rooms were very cheap without being basic-looking. We paid 350r for a narrow room but comfy bed and a TV. Shower was hot and very powerful. Location is good with plenty of restaurants around, and a short walk to the beautiful fort. Owner is nice and not pushy.
One that's not in the guide book, but worth a look if you want a nice cheap room, close to the fort. It's next to the street though, so moped noise can be an issue for rooms overlooking the street.

Room Tip: Choose a room not overlooking the road if street noise is likely to disturb you.

I stayed in Hotel Jeet Mahal which is located near the first gate close to the Fort. The room is good and clean. Nice place to stay within the budget. However, their safari is costlier and advice to roam around for better package. Their service starts from the pickup at Railway station and drop back there at the end of our stay. I recommend this place for stay and service however advice to get your own package for desert safari since the cost from this hotel is higher.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Jeetmahal has 6 lovely rooms, and is in a great location just outside the Fort gates, and is very close to markets and main attractions in Jaisalmer. The hotel is an old heritage building which was built in the first decade of the eighteenth century by Jeetmal Bissa, who served as an architect at the Royal Palace of Jaisalmer. He surprisingly constructed this fabulous Haveli in his spare time, when he was not required to attend the Royal Palace. The haveli has jharokhas of exquisite carvings and this heritage haveli still has a wonderful atmosphere of old Jaisalmer.
