“Grand and majestic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

well maintained fort, very good audio guide, museum was average, the wall frescos and carvings were truly fantastic. Well worth a visit, one requires at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours to visit the fort.

I would recommend the use of the audio guide, which can be hired at the ticketing area, as against the hiring of a local tourist guide while visitng the fort

“Audio tour was good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Take the audio tour, that is the best way to see the fort. The maintenance is lacking and can be improved.

“Well Preserved!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Probably one of the best preserved heritage, almost the entire architecture including the art and decoration is intact and the fort also facilitates a guider tour (included in the entry)!!

“One of the best palaces”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

This fort was one of the most beautiful palaces we have visited while in Rajasthan! It is a must while in Bikener. The architecture alone is simply amazing, not to mention the exquisite art decorations, painted walls, grand halls and terraces, nicely preserved collections and numerous stunning and hidden rooms with original decorations. You can almost feel the stories of the royals and their families who lived there, not so long ago. Audio guide is included in the price and well worth it, as well as the separate entrance to some special maharajas rooms. Guides are very nice and a place seems to be restored, preserved well and looked after.

“Junagarh Fort -- Royal Fort in Royal City of Bikaner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Walking along the lavishly carved stone corridors and passing by stunningly built pavilions, exquisite royal quarters, minarets, and archways in Junagarh Fort in Bikaner we were lost in nostalgia.

Ornamented court yards reminded us of the past glory of the city. A network of hallways in addition to the frescoed rooms connected by steep stairways greeted us during our visit to the fort.

Protecting the fort is a thick, crenellated stone wall that is around 986 meters long. The fort has two entrances of which the main entrance is named the Suraj Pol. Architectural marvel are the palatial mansions with jharoka windows and expansive court yards like Anoop Mahal, Karan Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Dungar Niwas, Bijai Mahal, Gaj Mandir, Ganga Niwas and the Rang Mahal are there.

Highlight of the fort is Phool Mahal with wall patterned with colored glass and mica shreds.
