With hospitability, service with a smile and good bedroom/bathroom it is difficult to see this homestay ever being toppled from the number 1 spot for B&B’s on Tripadvisor.
Located in the old city it is not easy to locate but Anil meet us on his scooter so that our car driver could follow him to the guesthouse. The property is on four levels with the guest rooms being on levels three and four with the family occupying the lower two. Our luggage was taken upstairs and we were shown to our room located through the left hand door (there are seven doors all next to each other on level 3 but there are in fact only actually three guest rooms). The bathroom was large, bright, clean and very modern as it is only 12 months old and the bath towels must have relatively new as they were still white. The bedroom had A/C unit and a wall mounted fan above the bed.
We were then offered drinks on the terrace area whilst the registration process was completed and we could have even had a meal prepared immediately had we required this following our long journey, Misha is that helpful.
As the selection of restaurants for Bikaner is limited we ate at the guesthouse both nights that we stayed here and were not disappointed by the quality, quantity and variation in what was served. This included rice, chapti, dhal, salad, two gravy dishes that were replenished when empty. The family kept asking if we were happy with the food, which of course was yes, because if the guest is happy, then so are they as Anil and Misha want their guests to feel at home. Tea and coffee can be provided, if required, and there is only a small charge for this service. The evening meal cost 300Rs per person and as you have very little alternative for eating in Bikaner it offers excellent value for money. Breakfast was also an addition charge of 150Rs but with cereal, omelette, toast and the best fruit salad I can recall tasting, comprising apple pear, ground coconut, sugar, honey and curd.
Neither Anil or Misha tried to sell or promote any camel safaris within Bikaner which is a positive as far as I’m concerned because most tourist destinations are about getting the money from the visitor but not at Tanisha.
