“Comfortable Night Halt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Nothing much to write about as it was just a one night halt at Bikaner. Large place from the look of it. However was a very quiet place for lack of occupancy. Exe. Sous Chef Virendra Singh was very helpful & so also the restaurant staff. No buffet available for breakfast but did not feel the need for it as was assisted with our requirements by the staff. Enjoyed some ethnic Rajasthani meals at the hotel.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for your good review. Unfortunately, early October is off-season in Bikaner and hence being a large property could have felt empty. We are happy to note that you have enjoyed some good Rajasthani meals in the hotel and have passed your kind words of encouragement to Executive Sou Chef Mr Singh and to the other Reservation Staff.

We would also like to thank you for the wonderful photographs which you have posted on the site.

We look forward to seeing you again at Vesta Bikaner Palace.

Our room was relatively clean with hot water, hard bed but comfortable. No hair dryer available. Staff seemed disinterested. We were told that WIFI not working....wondering if they are just cutting back on costs! A lot of the items on the menu were not available and food just acceptable. Pool on premises. This hotel is located 10 km from town. Very noisy at night due to a party going on till 3 a.m.

This is a very nice hotel away from the noise and offers well kept rooms and toilets.the restaurant and a small bar is very cozy. After a long walk to the old fort and markets it's a refreshing and relaxing comeback.the pool in summers is enjoyable and the Rajasthani food is tasty specially the laalmaas (tender lamb cooked in red curry) with roti (Indian bread).
The staff is friendly and cool.

Room Tip: The suite rooms are big and comfortable.with everything you need.

stayed here but place is not worth staying. The hot water was not there and after repeated request it was made available. The food was not so good and the location is very far from main city. The hotel is not so well maintained and in bath room shower etc. is corroded. Also the water is so hard that one can not take bath. The hotel management has not bothered to ensure treatment of water being supplied to rooms. The staff is though good and helpful but that's it rest all is not worth staying... one can choose this hotel if and only if nothing is available.

Our group had a pleasant one-night's stay at Vesta Bikaner Palace. It is far more attractive than the thumbnail on tripadviser suggests, seemingly built around four large courtyards with long corrridors which are attractively lit up at night. Food reasonable, and rooms respectable, but I think the staff made our short a success because they were so friendly and hospitable.

If one plans well then you can get a better Value for the price that you are paying for it. Stuated on the Bikaner-Jaipur Highway, this is away from city(good or bad, it depends on the way one looks at it). I checked in early morning & the place was all over strewn with litter of the previous nights merry making, giving me the feeling of choice that I had made. Breakfast could have been much better. I had a corner room & the view from window was also of the litter(hope someone is reading this). The Sandstone edifice looks awsome & stands out mainly because of Haveli look. The staff are great & the Rajasthani hospitality stands out, perhaps that was the winner of all experience.

Room Tip: The one with frontal view

Drove from Jaipur to reach Bikaner Palace on Christmas afternoon.

There was a welcome drink waiting and while my wife and son checked in and arranged for a hot bath, I had a quiet chat with a helpful concierge to chalk up a local travel program covering Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace Museum and the famous Bikaneri Camels' breeding farm.

After changing and getting into our car to go to Junagarh Fort, that evening, I was put in a funk by my son asking "Why do we need to go other Palaces, when we are staying in one right here?" hmmm good Question -so I let that go (it would take me a lot of nuances to differentiate a Deluxe and a Heritage Hotels, besides the costs....).

There was a special local dance troupe which danced around us during dinner back at the Bikaner Palace hotel. Dinner was fairly simple rustic Rajasthani stuff (which we had now got used to after driving around for the last 3 days) - we avoided the oily bhujias, but rather liked the Bikaneri sweets prepared with camel milk. And the dance was just simply glorious with its soaring beats, riot of colors, rhythm and movements! Service was stretched as it was a rather full house with guests seeming to have landed up from all over the world.

Quick tip - in such special day dinners, go and grab a table early!

After a night's comfortable rest, we tucked in to some solid parathas for breakfast at the Coffee shop called Chai, to arm us for another long day of touristing in Bikaner and then onwards to Jaisalmer the same day.

Overall, definitely recommend friends to stay who are looking for a good 1-2 nights sleep at Bikaner with some tradition thrown in at a value price of Rs 4k per day. And for those looking for swimming etc (which we didnt), they had a pool as well.

Overall service and attention to detail is fair, as Rajasthan has set pretty high standards in terms of service quality and consistency.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Vesta Bikaner Palace! The Vesta Bikaner Palace is an independent design hotel in the city of Bikaner. The hotel is the first design hotel in the state of Rajasthan built as a contemporary masterpiece within a palatial exterior. The architecture of the hotel is built in true heritage Rajasthani fashion with large courtyards, numerous pillars and a genuine haveli feel across the property. The interiors are modern and contemporary with vibrant touches of traditional extravagance built in every corner of the hotel. The design of the hotel was inspired by the people of the Bikaner and the spirit of the city resonates from every corner of the hotel. One such feature is the guest room door. Each door is a work of art, literally speaking. On each door is a portrait which has been captured in and around the city of Bikaner. These images reflect the true heritage of Bikaner, yet with a modern and quirky touch. You will see the bazaars of Bikaner, the crafts of the city, and traditional old world Rajasthani people, yet with mobile phones and New York tshirts. Each print is unique and not repeated anywhere. When you enter your room, the story of these images continue with you inside the rooms. And since each door opens into the central courtyard, the hotel becomes a veritable art gallery. The destination tour thus starts from within the hotel. Over 2,000sqft the Lobby of the hotel is again a blend of traditional Rajasthani and contemporary design. With an imposing 30 foot height, the ceiling is adorned with large crystal chandeliers. The furniture offers modern chesterfield leather sofa's with traditional large chairs. The Vesta Social Media Wall in the lobby of the hotel is another unique feature which depicts our interaction with the online world. The corridors of the hotel are embellished with chandeliers, large pillars and contemporary artefacts from all over the globe. You will find blends of Buddha seamlessly merging with modern stone and wooden artefacts. ... more   less
