“Paradise for Birding Enthusiasts !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Tal Chapar Blackbuck sanctuary located in Churu is truly a bird watchers dream come true. I visited in November, and was able to spot 100+ species in my 1.5 days there.

For stay, the only option is the forest dept guest house run by Sharad Sridhar, who is himself a wildlife enthusiast. The rooms are basic and clean. Food is prepared in the kitchen there and is simple and tasty. The cook is a very nice chap, and since I was the only person staying in those 2 days when I was there, he was kind enough to accept by requests on food.

For seeing the sanctuary, you can either take you own car, or avail of the bolero which is available. I suggest a few safari's on the bolero to understand the lay of the land, before driving around yourself (incase you have a car)

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Tal chappar ( churu district Rajasthan) It is known for black bucks and is also home to a variety of birds. The sanctuary is 210 km from Jaipur on the fringe of the Great Indian Desert. Churu is coldest and Hottest place ( temp go up till 50 deg) in Rajasthan.

“Birding in Tal Chhapar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

A excellent bird sanctuary in the middle of Rajasthan, where you can view some very rare birds both from India and Europe & Central Asia. We spotted 104 species in 3 days some of them like lesser Kestrel very rare to find. You can stay in the guest house in sanctuary, I suggest a minimum of 2 days stay. It can be reached from both Jaipur and Delhi easily by road. There are more than 1000 black bucks so great place to click there photos.

“something close to mother nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

it is recommended to go for a day trip since nice lodging is not available.but it is worth to spend every minute you stay there.visibility of deer and animals is very clear since the land is plain. best part of place is its natulal, no guide, no shops, on adds, its only nature nature nature.its a treat to watch dears running around and variety of birds flying.
