“Good hotel...terrible service....the worst I've ever experienced!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

The hotel is spread over a wide area & is quite beautiful. Its color scheme is a touch gaudy, but the attention to architecture & detail is great.

Facilities are quite good & abundant...almost resort like...a tennis court, a basketball court, a nice pool, decent spa & gym, quaint English Style Bar[leather sofas & wood paneling] & good restaurants...all in all a property to be proud of.

Unfortunately their service & hospitality is definitely the worst I've ever come across in a luxury hotel!!!

I'm sure the words “a guest's comfort" & "service" don't even figure in their vocabulary!! This includes virtually everyone you meet or talk to in the hotel...from the receptionists to Hotel Mgr.’s, etc...Absolutely pathetic manners & service!!

Such a pity, considering how awesome the actual hotel is!!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

I stayed in the hotel for four nights and found the service to be lacking. My room was not available since the last occupant apparently refused to vacate the room till six pm! I was given a temporary room to freshen up and I had to repeatedly keep asking reception for my room. I was given an alternate room at 4 pm. The room is very large, they give complimentary chips, biscuits, toffees and tea/coffee. The furniture is very over the top ornate and not very functional. The bathroom is very large and yet seems cramped due to the layout. A large bath of good quality has been fitted and as an after thought an open shower has been fitted with a bucket and plastic stool placed in front of it. If one takes a shower the entire bath area gets wet and since there is no drain close to the bath area, the water accumulates in the corner of the bathroom which leaves an unplesant odour. Despite a huge room and lots of furniture, there is an open cupboard and safe in the bathroom with space for only 5 to 6 hangers. On the final evening I had a huge cockroach and several ants in the room. This drove my kid to eat her dinner in the bathroom until housekeeping helped clear the insect. The F & B service in the hotel is lacking. I ate all my meals in the hotel and one meal at Mayfair Puri and the chefs in both properties take over an hour to serve you either in the room or the restaurant. The bed is comfortable but the pillows are too huge and hard.Despite staying in the hotel for 4 nights, staff recognition was zilch. I was asked every time by security for my room number and the porter kept asking me if I had luggage in the car which needed to be unloaded.

We have been frequenting Mayfair Lagoon for the past 10 years almost once every year. But this time, the experience was really heart warming. We had ordered a pastry at Mama Mia which is the bakery and the pastry was not upto the mark.As a result, i had written a feedback regarding it and to my surprise, the next day , I got a call from the F&B G.M apologizing for the issue and the next day, the G.M along with 3 chefs came to my room (Room No.121) with freshly baked pastries and a one pound eggless cake with an apology.I was really touched and pleasantly surprised by this gesture. This made sure that I shall keep on visiting this property again for the next many years .The food served in Room service is excellent and the staff in all the departments are extremely courteous and very helpful.....keep up the good work and would highly recommend this property to families wanting to have a nice holiday

Room Tip: Room no.121 has a garden in front of the room...excellent location

In my opinion this is the best hotel in Orissa .It is having a very cooperative staff. The overall ambiance was royal heritage. The hotel provides us a variety of restaurants. The best option for North Indians like me would be SUPER SNAX.It also provides us with a club car which is very good for senior citizens itself in the hotel and our overall experience there was great.

Room Tip: Ask the lagoon view rooms or the room nearer to the reception

One of most beautifully put together properties I have ever stayed in. An amalgam of local and international themes, the whole ambience is so well put together with pools, aviaries, walkways, cul de sacs that it is a pleasure to just walk inside. My room has a beautiful view of a huge waterbody with fountains surrounded by dense green foliage that it seems that you are in a tropical paradise. And that too, in the heart of the city. The cornices are staked out in gilt edges and there is a profusion of colors and art and yet it doesnt overpower you. If I didnt have critical meetings to travel to, I would have cancelled my travel programs and stayed for a few days. But this seems such a waste to stay here and go for business meetings. Would be fantastic to come with family and friends. Absolutely necessary to stay here if you come to bhubaneshwar.
